Snap Shot Delight - Empire Hyperspace list

By aknorthroader, in X-Wing Squad Lists

In coming back to X-Wing, I am new to the Hyperspace format and the reading of the cards. After going through the Q&A on snap shot, I came up with a list that I think could really work...

3 out of 4 would be able to add a die to the pool, while the 4th keeps the fighters alive.

TIE/sk Striker - •“Pure Sabacc” - 65
•“Pure Sabacc” - Confident Gambler (44)
Snap Shot (7)
Seismic Charges (3)
•Fifth Brother (11)

TIE/ln Fighter - •Iden Versio - 51
•Iden Versio - Inferno Leader (41)
Snap Shot (7)
Targeting Computer (3)

TIE/ln Fighter - •Gideon Hask - 40
•Gideon Hask - Inferno Two (30)
Snap Shot (7)
Targeting Computer (3)

TIE/ln Fighter - •“Scourge” Skutu - 41
•“Scourge” Skutu - Seasoned Veteran (31)
Snap Shot (7)
Targeting Computer (3)

Total: 197/200

I played for several weeks a list with 6 TIEs and snapshot:

5x Black Squadron + Snapshot

1x Del Meeko + Snapshot

Idea was that snapshot damage triggers Del Meekos ability. So in the best case I get the defensive re-roll from the beginning of the engagement.

There were some nice results but overall I would change 2x snapshot for intimidation to increase the damage probabilty.

Been looking at Imps in HS a lot and really struggling. The problem I keep hitting is that everything is so squishy. High ship count or extreme tanks seem to be prevalent in the format, both of which make it hard for a list light in numbers and health to push through to a positive end game. Especially with the Imp ace game largely on the back burner.

1 Striker, 3 TIEs certainly falls squarely in the light and squishy camp. I think it will be very hard.

I've not given up on Imp salad yet though. I have something I may put on the table and see if I have the chutzpah to fly it well enough. Topically, it has Snap Shot. But it still seems a bit light and incredibly dependent on perfect flying...

(44) "Pure Sabacc" [TIE/sk Striker]
(7) Snap Shot
Points: 51

(44) Ved Foslo [TIE Advanced x1]
(2) Fire-Control System
(6) Outmaneuver
Points: 52

(49) Major Vermeil [TIE Reaper]
(6) Death Troopers
(3) Intimidation
Points: 58

(30) Gideon Hask [TIE/ln Fighter]
(7) Snap Shot
Points: 37

Total points: 198

It's by no means a final form and very much on the 'for fun' side of things atm. (i.e. loaded Ved).

I have very little idea how to fly it strategically, but coords for a cagey, hovering Ved, up close and personal Vermeil, endgame threat Gideon and area control/early mind games with Sabacc suggest themselves.

Has anybody recently flown in Hyperspace with an Empire list against a Boba-list, with or without Fenn Rau? I wonder if Snap Shot on lots of ships works.

That's a nice idea. You can't fit in a 7th ship, so you're stuck looking for a named pilot to choose, and I think Del suits the squad well; snap shot isn't likely to get you kills unless someone is dumb enough to fly into the snap shot arc of 5+ ships simultaneously*, but the odd point of damage here and there across your opponent's squad is a good use for Del. Gideon might work well in the same position.

* At some point, someone will fly a decimator into the massed arcs of your squad and then realise what they've done and it will be glorious.

Biggest hurrah was a caught Fenn who drew a fuel leak and panicked pilot = dead Fenn... 😁
