Questions from beginner

By Ka3aK, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Hi, all!

Just entered in this awesome game, and some questions appeared.

1. If the unit is attacked with action and damage dealt is suffisient to destroy it, can the owner of this unit as reaction on the action sacrifice this unit?

2. Chaos quest "Wolves of the North" gives an opportunity for unut questing on it to initiate a single attack in quest phase. Is it means one point of damage or all power of the attacker can be used? Can I defen against it?

Sorry for my English, I'm used to speak Russian happy.gif , and thanks for your responce.

#1: Yes, but you need to use the sacrifice in response to the original action (let's say Flames of Tzeentch), can't respond after damage is being dealt.

#2: It's a normal attack in terms of counting power for attacker and defending against. It just happens in the Quest phase and only the unit on the Quest can attack. Chaos Knights, Bule, Great Unclean One are all fun units on WotN.

Thanks a lot! It will helps

As far as question one goes I'm not so certain you can sacrifice. You stated that the damage is done by an action rather than during combat in the battlefield phase. If so, don't actions deal damage instantly? In which case you would be unable to sacrifice.

Once the action is resolved, the damage gets dealt with no action interruption. But the action doesn't start resolving until all the responses are played/taken and resolved first.

Player A: Announces Flames of Tzeentch against let's say Trollslayers for 3 dmg.

Player B: Respond by using Grudge Thrower to sacrifice the said TS (presumably he has Dwarf Ranger in his QZ or something).

Both pass

Due to LIFO resolution, first the response happens, so the TS is sacced, then Flames of Tzeentch's dmg is dealt, except the target is gone, so it fizzles.

Actually, the unit sacrifice for the Grudge Thrower's ability is part of the cost (just like paying 1 resource), so it is sacrificed when the ability is declared, not when the Grudge Thrower's ability resolves.
