Hitpoints & Damage -> Kill

By 1815Baersson, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Sorry to ask that question again, but I want to be sure that I got the rule correctly:

If I have a unit has e.g 3 hit points and has currently 2 damages on it, is it correct that I still would need to assign 4 damage token to kill that unit?
(assign 3 damage token to overcome the hitpoints and 1 damag to give it its final damage)

Correct?

Correct?

No, you need to assign 1 more damage to destroy that unit, so if said unit was defending on its own, 3 would go through.

Yes, you are right. Assigning 3 damage to a unit with 3 hitpoints and currently 2 damage on it would kill the unit.

Thanks!

The way that damage vs. hitpoints works is that the hitpoints is the maximum amount of damage the unit can take before it is destroyed. If the damage on the unit is ever equal to or greater than the hitpoints then the unit is destroyed.

So in the example where a 3 HP unit has 2 damage on it, 1 more damage will destroy it, you don't need to assign 4 to it.

Thanks for clarification!

Also for added clarification, if the units HP were lowered in some fashion so that they dropped to equal or be less than the current number of damage on it, the unti would be destroyed, including if the damage on the unit were 0 but its HP were reduced to 0.
