Hyenas,vultures and asteroids

While I am parked on an asteroid, are my attacks obstructed? Are my opponents attacks obstructed?

Quick answer: Your attacks are unobstructed (by the rock you're on), attacks against you might be obstructed if they go through any obstacle.

Explanation: This comes down to the fundamental question of, what does "ignore an obstacle" mean? As explained in the Rules Reference, when you ignore an obstacle, you're ignoring that obstacle's effects. This encompasses a lot of different things: effects when you overlap or move through it, effects when you are at range 0 of it, and effects when an attack (yours or your opponent's) are made through it.

Since you are ignoring the obstacle, you get to ignore those effects. No damage roll when you overlap, no loss of perform action step, no attack steps skipped. This also means that when you attack, your shot will likely be unobstructed, since you are ignoring the obstacle (and thus, its effects). It's best to think of extra defense dice due to obstruction as penalties to the attacker , rather than bonuses for the defender . It's always the attacker who determines the line of fire, and determines obstruction or not. Likewise, when you defend, it's not you who's drawing that line, but the attacker. If the attack line crosses an obstacle, then it's obstructed, unless the attacker is the one ignoring that obstacle. It's important to note that, with Open Struts, you only ignore Asteroids and Debris that you're at Range 0 of. So, you may ignore the one you're parked on, but if your attack crosses a different obstacle, it will still create an obstruction, and give the defender an extra defense die.

Another relevant side note about ignoring obstacles, is that you ignore the effects that are created by that obstacle... not any effects created by other cards you might have, like Stunned Pilot. If you move through or overlap an obstacle, you still trigger the effects of this critical damage card, even if you don't suffer the obstacle effects directly. You're only ignoring the effects of the rock... not your own crits!

Quick answer to both is, if the line of attack crosses over the asteroid then yes, they are obstructed.

But i suspect, what you are really asking is, does that obstruction have any Effect on the attacks itself? That is what @emeraldbeacon is answering.

It may seem like the same question but in it isnt, and it is particularity important in this case.

Quote

An attack is obstructed if the attacker measures range through an object. If a ship or device obstructs an attack, there is no inherent effect. an obstacle obstructs an attack, there is an additional effect.

All the droids are ignoring is the effect of the obstacle itself, not the obstruction. Droids attacks would still be 'obstructed' in the mechanical sense, it just doesnt affect them from the asteroids standpoint. But if they had something like Trick Shot, they would still gain that effect.
