Rules Question (Stacking, BloodThirster, self-inclusive text)

By JayDe, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

1. Does everything stack?
It was mentioned that toughness (eg. Gromril armor +Toughness 1) is actually a stack effect. What about other effects like Gates of Sigmar (+1 cost to target units), Contested Fortress (I am aware text says 'first' point, but Gromril armor text is similarly redundant) etc'... without Errata for these i assume the same logic should apply?

2. The BloodThirster makes entire damage pool uncancellable?
not just its 4 (or more) damage? I've seen this mentioned elsewhere...

3. Do all cards include themselves in special text?
eg. Thanquol's +power per skaven unit controlled includes itself? I assume this because other cards, like Greatswordsmen count themselves as having entered play for their text. A second card like this is Sniktch, I'm blanking on more examples...

Toughness stacks because it is meant to do so, bu RULES. Contested Fortress does not stack, because "the first" is the same point of damage for each statement, thus, each Contested Fortress triggers at the same time, triggering for the same input.

Counterstrike and Toughness stack.

"Damage is uncancellable" is a "global" statement that includes "each source of damage". If it wasn't this way, we would have read: "Damage dealt by Bloodthirster is uncancellable" or the like.

Each effect/ability like those are self-referencial. This type of trigger always involve the card itself...If it didn't, we would have read: "Each time ANOTHER unit" or "...takes P for EACH OTHER Skaven..." or the like.

Hope this helps! :)

Hi,

1. Contested Fortress

Limited (you cannot play more than one limited card per turn). Cancel 1 damage to your capital each turn.

There is NO first in the text, so multiple Fortesses all could use their ability. It's not stacking however as they work without caring about each other. The "first" is in the text of "Defend the Border" where only one point of damage will be affected.

Otherwise Counterstrike, Toughness, HP or power modifying effects stack.

3. Take the card as written. If it say "skaven cards" and it is also a skaven why would you don't count it in ? ;)

Sorry...I was tired while answering and confused the text with the Defend the Border's one!!! :)

Sorry, sorry, sorry... ;)
