Someone has spotted that if you go to pre-order it from the Asmodee webstore you get a preview of the back of the box:

Looks like we're getting a lower level Alter Fate!

Great catch.

The change to Alter Fate is easy to determine - it seems to have lost the Fast keyword but is otherwise identical.

I determined this by looking at the text on the original card , which has the same 2 full lines with a bold word near the end of the second line, but with the "Fast, play during any [free trigger] player window" line above those two lines with a line break; the card shown here lacks that top line.

Removing Fast from Alter Fate makes it far less useful; it might be OK as a stepping stone to the level 3 version but it's a huge step down. Aside from full-class Survivors and Father Mateo using it before they can afford the proper Alter Fate, I guess it might be worth taking for Tony Morgan or Preston Fairmont, since as Rogues they're likely to have spare actions to play it. Other off-class Survivors might want it (Agnes, Tommy, Mandy) but I think it's a pretty marginal pick for them.

Any thoughts as to possible upgrades to the Winging It/Impromptu Barrier/Improvised weapon group?

That seems very unlikely; the established pattern so far is 2 new cards per class, plus maybe a new basic weakness. We already see a new On Your Own, so it seems likely that there would only be one other Survivor card. They could add a new version of just one of the cards (after all, there's Oops (2) but no upgrade to "Look What I Found!" or Dumb Luck), and it they do my money would be on a new Improvised Weapon, but that seems unlikely.

I would really like upgraded versions of the Improvised cards, so I'll hold out hope.

It looks like you were right as it will be Alter Fate instead. Too bad, they are great suite of cards and were kind of the heart and soul of the Survivor cards they released in that campaign. I had hoped they would get the nod.

Impressive how you figured out the change to Alter Fate, it’s so blurry. Your Investigation Skills truly are einmalig. (Sorry, sometimes English just doesn’t have the right word)

I believe the word you're searching for might be "unparalleled" (I'm a German/English translator)...in which case, thank you.

The reason I think that Improvised Weapon might get an upgrade is that the level 0 version is the weakest of the Improvised cards (aside from Snare Trap, technically); there's not really anyone other than Patrice who can make particularly good use of Improvised Weapon, whereas Winging It is useful for many Survivors and other investigators, and Impromptu Barrier is great for Wendy and not bad for Finn or Rita. There's still a couple of packs to go this cycle so who knows?

Well well. I now teach, but was an interpreter for German and American Sign Language for many moons. German is my “Mutter Sprache” and English the ambient language of my early childhood. (ASL wormed it’s way in a few years later) I grew up back and forth between Munich and San Diego. My parents wanted me to have the full benefit of both worlds, cultures and extended families. This included my Auntie and cousins in Britain and an intrepid grandmother who spoke five languages, was a historian and loved to travel (but not without a valet, which role I happily assumed). Lucky me!

“Unparalleled” and “Unrivaled” were the words I had actually originally considered, but “Einmalig” casts hues of “unique” and “memorable” into the meaning. There just wasn’t really one satisfying word in English, so I cast it into the wind. What a pleasant surprise that you would understand it either way! Which is all to say, “Bitte!” and sincerely meant.
