Testbed with Vader

By Sobonis01, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

The idea is Vader for rerolls, isd Cymoon for reaching out and touching someone and flacking limited squadrons. I come up short on turbo lasers however. I feel the gunnery teams let you dual shoot out the front or shoot and flack. Intel is there on the testbed to damage harm the brace tokens. I like contested outpost as it lets your sit ad make people come to you and get victory points. Weaknesses low activations and no squads and fast fleets. Your thoughts?

I Don't know where you'd get the points from, but Hondo Ohnaka (officer) would be a great addition to this fleet.

You already have the rest of the required setup in place(cataclysm + orbital bombardment particle cannons) - Hondo would allow you to drop the token & make an ignition attack on the first turn.
(And believe me you can get decent shots on the first turn, especially if the enemy is in a rush to close with you.)

I'd be hesitant to suggest it (because XI7's are rather good), but if you dropped them down to quad battery turrets (inevitable blue dice on each attack because everyone will be going faster than you) you would get the 2 point's you'd need.

(you have a very tight list there - not much you can cut)

It's something to think about.

I came up a alternative version of this list. I think this one is more balanced.

Cataclysm isn't really necessary, unless you have Hondo to do turn 1 shenanigans. It's not that useful after turn 1 as it's not too difficult to predict your opponent's movement well enough to place the token properly at the end of the Onager's activation. If you want to run Cataclysm, I'd add Hondo on the Vic.

Otherwise, I don't you'll find much use for Cataclysm as you have little token generation to sustain it.

Think I should put a Wulff or a taskmaster grint? Then put Hondo on a vsd? My main question is how important is intel officer on the onager.

I can only speak from personal experience, but Intel officer on the onager seems really good;

It changes the opening shots from something the opponent can mostly ignore into something they have to worry about. Good use of intel officer on the opening shots can force them into either taking a lot of damage or burning important defense tokens.

I really like the idea of two Cymoons escorting a testbed. I can see putting Hondo in the list on the Vic 2. Have the Vic 2 geared up to a mini Cymoon.
