Also can you do 2v2 300ptsx2?
It’s rules for 600, 800, 1000, and 1200 point games for 2-8 players.
What’s good is subjective, but I do like the lower squadron cap because it helps Sato and gives Sloane more room for combat ships. Squadrons are less oppressive (IMO) because flak is thicker and medium-large fighter tarpits are less of an investment. It also increases the value of fleetwide and AOE buffs like fleet commands, Tarkin, and Home One, changes the array of competitive objectives somewhat, makes Strategic more appealing, and just allows more design space.
How long it takes depends on what you fly, but 800 isn’t double the time (I attended a 1 day, 3-round 800 point tournament a while back and it worked fine.)
And yes, there should be a 300 point 2v2 in there.
Is there any adaption of the objectives to fit the higher points values, or do I have to pull a Task Force and suggest increases by same ratio like I did with the decreases by larger half in Task Force?

There is no adaptation for objectives in Sector Fleet battles. Task Force rules set some objectives that should not be used, but otherwise have no adaptation.

The link that Jabba posted contains all the rules. As you'll see, there is no adaptation to objectives in the Sector Fleet Rules, so objectives like Contested Outpost seem less strong at say, 800 points. On the other hand, Close-Range Intel Scan with accuracy shenanigans (Home One, Captain Jonus, H9, etc.), Rift Ambush or Minefields seem stronger. So whether that's a flaw or a benefit of the format is in the eye of the beholder.
@Darth Veggie
created his own rules for 800+ point games called "Grand Battle," which addresses what he sees as flaws in the Sector Fleet format. I actually haven't played Sector Fleet or Grand Battle--just finding time for 400 point games is enough when you have an infant to take care of--but his objectives look pretty interesting, and they're obviously designed for larger games.

Truth.
Yeah it’s so hard to find players and time for this game due to length

I don't want to sound too much like the crazy old man on the park bench but - I remember when my first sprog turned up and how busy I thought I was THEN. She's 7 now and her sister is 2 1/2. I look in envy at people with one child and how much free time they must have. I have to schedule my bathroom usage in the household Outlook calendar - THAT'S what it's like with two fast-moving kids in the house.

I have four. I haven’t been alone for any length of time in more than five years. That includes sleeping and going to the bathroom.

And you still haven't worked out where they're coming from??
But seriously - FOUR? Wow. I love my girls but as the second one gets more independent I'm starting to look at new careers and a bit of free time for myself - can't even IMAGINE going through four of that.
Edited by flatpackhamsterI don't even know how I'll organize Armada stuff once my daughter starts walking--much less with multiples.
I think @LTD has us all beat.

Everything goes up a shelf. Then when she reaches 18 months, up 2 shelves.
Until she starts to climb the shelves as my youngest likes to do. Found her at the top of the bookshelves in the sitting room one day last year trying to reach the TV remote. She was 2.

Yea, the climbing thing is a miserable pain. My daughter was climbing before walking and now at 3 she is terrifyingly good at it. On the plus side she takes an interest in all the ships already so I'm banking on finally being able to play some Armada one day.
Wait until they have phones and start to hack pass codes. My 2nd oldest had her phone taken away for working out the screen time password and binging after lights out......
Thank you @Bertie Wooster for acknowledging my inherent superiority. Number seven arrives in May.
At this time I’m playing irl armada 3 Tuesdays out of 4 (the other is a board meeting) and vassal about once a fortnight.

It's vastly worth it.
I found that Armada really shines at 600+ points. I think 800 is the perfect balance. The lower squad cap is nice but also not restricting to players looking to bring a squadron based fleets. (Both Sloane and Sato SING at this level of play).
Sector fleet format is how armada is meant to be played. Fleet building is more satisfying as you often don't have to sacrifice to build a specific function. (For instance if you want to bring multiple ISD IIs you can do so without having to rely on Pryce for activation control and/or you can field decent squadron wing).
If you get the chance definitely try to get an 800 point game in sometime.

I fully plan to play the escalation game on that one.
Worst case, they figure out how to bypass my controls and they've learned more about routing and switching (or mobile device administration) than 99% of their peers.

It's like you're prepping them for a job IRL! What kind of parent are you??
Actually on topic, and not in praise of my own fecundity, I have found 800 point games to be of great fun. Yes, they can take an entire evening, but they actually look like a proper battle.
In my experience, however, Admiral Ackbar seems to be the default rebel choice. Line up facing the Imperials, then turn left OR right - engage part of their line with all of your overlapping fire arcs, and chew them to bits. I think the Rebels (with Ackbar) have a distinct advantage at 800+ points (and EA AF2s are amazing (with an IF Pelta flagship)).

Yes, He is.
Here is us doing a 1200 point tournament...

I played an 800pt game using GilaedPellaeon's Nova list, but with double ISD, double GSD and 150pt of fighters. It tore my opponent a new one and he's still smarting over the scale of the defeat.
Got an 800 point battle in over the weekend. Had a great time with it.
