Baratheon Melee Deck - Please Critique

By Fieras, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

I am playing this deck in a format where pretty much no one plays winter, and one person plays summer.

Please critque the deck and provide alternatives to cards you think I should not be running and why.

The deck has a small asshai theme with a good amount of vigilant and renown.

Thanks!

Creatures (33)

3 Fiery Followers (Open to suggestions here, but a solid RBG Vigilant card)
3 Acolyte of the flame (Not bad for Asshai)
1 Herald of the Stag
1 Summers Champion (Solid card unless its winter)
1 Overzealous Scout (4 to Initiative seems good)
1 Ser Arthur Dayne
1 Arena Knight (Wish I had 2 more)
1 Ser Davos Seaworth (the pay a gold to save version)
1 Knight of Flowers (the doesnt kneel if no shadows version)
1 Margaery Tyrell (To counter rough plot cards)
1 Robert Baratheon (Extra renown version)
1 Kings Champion
1 Renly baratheon (Kneel Influence version)
1 Ser Axel Florent
1 King Roberts Host
1 Melisandre (Asshai pump version)
1 Edric Storm (For power explosion)
1 Stannis Baratheon (cant defend if no lord)
3 Zealot of the Light (Good combo with throne plus asshai)
2 Army of the faithful (Good with asshai)
3 Royal Entourage (Such a good card)
3 Salladhors Crew (Also a great card)

Locations (17)

3 Kingswood Trail ( Such a good card for both offense AND defense)
2 Crossroads
2 Great Hall
3 Aegon's Garden
3 Stormlands Fiefdoms
1 King Roberts Chamber
1 Street of Sisters
1 Iron Throne (Wooot)
1 Claw Isle (Amazing)

Attachments and Events (10)

1 Stinking Drunk (Looking for a solid replacement)
3 Martial Law (Potentially an extra 6 power per round, amazing)
3 R'hllors Blessing (Pump and Card Draw, Yes please)
2 Support of the Kingdom (Steal me some locations)
1 Lightbringer

Plots (7)

Counting Favors
Building Season
Summoning Season (I chose these first three because I can basically get 5 cards compared to my opponents 1/1/3)
Mutual Cause (Love the 2 claim, and this allows me to more easily focus one person without rebuttal)
Empty Throne (Can you say power explosion?)
Holding the trident (You get this bonus if ANY enemy has less creatures. Amazing)
Fury of the Stag (Good initiative and Gold, even if no targ or mart)

Please let me know what you think? This is meant for Melee against usually 3 other people. I play against a gaming group of 1 greyjoy, 2 targ, 2 stark, 2 Lann, and 2 Bara.

I ended up running the following and making top 8 in the regional joust in San Fran

So apparently no one offers advice and critiques anymore.

Well I don't know about anyone else, but I hardly ever come to the deck construction board. but before I get into the advice/critique part, is this a joust or melee deck? it says melee in the title but you said you got top 8 in joust, and I know how different the builds are between joust and melee.

the original post was melee. the second decklist was modified for joust. I was at kublacon over the weekend and I played in both formats.

Hmmmm well right of hand the only thing I can see is why no seat of power?

Also, I'd ditch the firey followers. I don't like them as much now that they can't be given renown. I mean I know they fit in pretty well with the asshai theme but I'd replace them for 2 bannerman. That way you can give vigilant to someone like Robert or Stannis.

Love the stand renly! really rocks against lanni kneel!

I'd ditch the three great halls for two crossroads, ditch the fiefdoms for seat of power. and then I'd ditch the aegon's garden for narrow seas. I think this would allow you much better flops since you'll have alot less limited stuff. With the extra location slot you have left I'd put in a den of the wolf maybe. could be fun with all the vigilant in your deck to repeat the challenges phase.

Also I'd probably try and find room for three bodyguard and three loyal guard. I always want to have ways to protect my unique guys. especially robert. I'd probably take out the three martial laws really. I mean its a limited response so you can't use all three. and its pretty poor location control.

all in all though looks pretty solid. I like that it is pretty different than your standard bara build. Looks like it could really be quick or have some lasting power if need be too. I think my suggestions are really for just speeding up your resource curve and maybe giving you a bit more staying power by protecting your uniques.
