Can a ship that is equipped with both Pattern Analyzer and Proud Tradition that performed the action granted by PA before the Check Difficulty step still perform the focus action during the regular Perform Action step?

Yes, as long as the action performed with Pattern Analyzer was not a focus action, and it did not cross an asteroid or gas cloud with the movement.
Edited by thespaceinvaderYou could still do it even when crossing a debris field. PA kicks in before you would get the stress from debris and then you would be able to focus after going through the debris because you would have two stress.
??? So the PA action is granted by the card and not part of the normal sequence to get an action. I never looked at it that way.

Yes. Its granting an action. It doesn't say anything about the Perform Action step. This is why Nien Nunb (T-70 X-Wing) can use it to perform 2 actions on a red maneuver.
It's an understandable confusion, though, it does functionally the same thing in most cases that it did in 1e, but it's completely different mechanically.

As are many abilities in 2E
. Part of them (mostly) cleaning up the wording and ironing out the phases.

Think you meant gas cloud

I did, yes.
This can lead to other interesting interactions with ships that can remove their own stress, like Nien Numb. You can perform a red maneuver, then perform an action before the Check Difficulty Step, which could include boosting towards an enemy. Subsequently, when you gain stress, you can promptly remove it, just in time for your regular Perform Action Step.
