I don't get the point of P 2 s as well.

But the arc troopers make sense clones don't have a cheap activation that can do something

I'd rather spend 52 points on a naked Phase 1 squad than a two man strike team personally.

I might save some of this for a thread if you'll do that, but calling ARCs "the same" is a mistake. They don't even have the saboteur option (no tokens in their spread), and we don't know what Echo and Fives do. They don't just add new weapons, they also have other abilities. ARCs also can add Jump, and they have basically the combo platter of weapons - if you get them up close they can unload with hand-blasters, but they still retain their normal 1-3 rifles for regular shooting so it's not a B2/Fleet/Scout situation. While they can operate similar to how sniper teams have in the past (and the DC-15x is good for it) they also can have completely different strategies and options. EDIT: Oh, we also know Echo and Fives look like they have extra HP too, which is different.

The ARCs and BXs also have a different defensive profile. Both the Commandos and Scout Troopers were white saves with Low Profile - their obvious defensive intent was to maximize cover (or take Duck & Cover to get heavy cover in an open field) but that relies on cover so competitive players hate it even though cover/terrain will only get more detailed and important as the game goes on - ARCs and BXs have red saves with Impervious, letting you just be more bold and try and take hits.

I agree. But chances are, you're most likely gonna fill a list with 6x corps already.

My reasoning for saying the Age of the Sniper being over is, of course, wishful thinking mostly. But looking at the mobility of coming units--B2s getting in your face, BX squads kitted with shields (which block Pierce ) and swords, ARCs and BXs being Scout X units with high personal mobility and Impervious, and the rising prevalence of Armor , I think history will prove me right.

The biggest issue I'm seeing with CIS snipers is getting them the aim token.

Give them Offensive Push or Hunter then. Commando droids really don't benefit as much from their training slot since D and C is useless, Endurance isn't great and without token sharing Overwatch is really niche. I could see Tenacity, but not on a strike team.

They can have shields OR swords, not both at the same time

did any one notice that five and Echo have 2 health that cool and you see wound counter to confirm that

I'm pretty sure BX are scout 3 because their number looks different than the ARC's Scout 2, so sword BX are actually pretty gnarly. They get charge so you don't even have to worry about their AI, just double move and wail on the enemy with swords, it'll be a bad time. They have scale also.

We don't know that for certain. The cards are blocked out on that side

We do know that for certain, they made a specific point of mentioning it was one or the other in the livestream.

It's definitely scout 3. From what we've seen it looks like the BX have better equipment at the cost of less heavy options. The jetpack is nice, but jump 2 tends to be overkill while scale is outright better than jump 1.

Was anything mentioned, or pics shown, for Clan Wren & Inferno Squad? All I've read is that they were also confirmed.

For anyone that has played both Republic & Empire. Do they play very differently to each other? I love the idea of ARC troopers jumping around & bouncing between cover. I'm considering a second force & would rather have one with a different feel.

Nah it was just the four.

I was hoping all the factions would eventually get jump troops with different theme. STAP troops for CIS, clan Wren for Rebels, ARCs and then Jumptroopers like from imperial assault for Imperial.

Commandos have surge -> hit. Which is superior to Crit 1 in most cases.

Statistically speaking, unless you are rolling 9+ attack dice, Crit 1 is better than Surge -> hit in that your statistically only likely to roll 1 or less surges on 8 or less dice. and seeing as how a crit will get through cover it really is a better ability to have.

The other unknown for CIS at this point is the BX upgrade slots. They are strangely covered in the preview picture.

Yeah, slightly frustrated that every other unit card is clearly displayed, but they obviously went out of their way to cover up the upgrade slots and ranged weapon dice on the BXs.

With that said, we know they at least have heavy weapon, training, comms, grenades, and armament based on what we can see and what cards they come with.

They were only.confirmed since I believe they were brought up in regards to the jetpacks and sculpting work done on the mandos. We will likely see more about them both next month.

They likely will at somepoint. The Republic and Rebels just get them first. The Empire has options they could pull from be it the Jump Troopers from IA/Star Tours or the ones seen in Rebels, or they could instead do Mandalorian Super Commandos as seen in Rebels. As for the CIS the Straps are more akin to speeder analogies so we'd likely get the B1 or B2 rocket droids as seen I Clone Wars.

It's a safe bet that they'll have black attack dice. We know that it'll only be one die per mini so a single white is laughably bad for an SF unit and a red would be overpowered.

So I might be squinting/zooming in SUPER hard here, but just above the poison token that overlaps the gun's dice, you can see a tiny sliver of black dice peaking out over top of it and that lines up for that gun to have more than one dice. Maybe black/white?

Beat me to it by about 30 seconds. I was thinking the same thing, B/W per mini

They made sure to say it was a "Commando E-5" so they could change the dice, so it's not just a white. If it's black white though man, I'm more and more glad these things are AI: Move/Dodge.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised to see WW though, since we just see a sliver of black and not a white outline, which should be visible if the top die is black.

We have not seen anything, but they are confirmed to be coming verbally. Both said by name.

On your other topic, I’d say they play differently. Empire likes to hand out suppression and the pieces are far more independent of each other. Token sharing and being in groups is big to republic faction identity.

Fair point

Man....that would be really sad and plummet my hype for these units.
