Did anyone else notice that the Arc Trooper box marks the first time that either one of the weapon upgrades share a model, or that you can't field both a Strike Team and full squad from one box?

There are only seven models: four for the squad, one for the "assistant," which leaves only 2 for 3 heavy weapons... I think the sniper model does double duty?

It seems the sniper guy can also go on the big unit. But why do you think there are 3 heavy weapons? There are only 2 - the slighty longer pistol pair and the 'sniper'

Can't wait to run magagurads and my guess is Ani/Ventress for commanders.

I get that the CIS is short on commanders, but I highly doubt that Ventress will be one.

Yeah, she and Ahsoka are Operatives through and through

DC-15x Trooper, Fives, and Echo are the 3 Heavy Weapons

Well we have the Citadel-style BX droids, why not Warden Osi Sobeck as a commander? Unique sculpt, actually gets in fights, probably not too strong but could have some traversal abilities because he's pretty mobile.

Nah, what we really need is aquatic maps for Riff Tamson and Aqua Droids!

I honestly think Padme may be the best operative in the game. She fulfills a need (support for clones, making them way better), is good on her own, and has unique command cards.

Really her only drawback may be her command cards as she can only issue orders to herself and one other unit (still more useful and consistent than all the other operatives) she is cheap enough that you don't feel like she has to shoot to make her points back so she is open to all the actions in the game. Most operatives and even commanders don't have that luxury.

Authoritative appears to give her a build-in Relay effect to push her orders off on other units if needed.

3 heavy weapons upgrades: DX-15x sniper generic, Fives, and Echo. There is no other way to add a model to the unit other than through the Heavy Upgrade, so they have to be "heavy weapons" unless there's something special about their cards (such as the two together being a Strike Team, replacing the "normal" trooper). I haven't seen their cards yet so I don't know.

You can run Fives or Echo as just other ARCs, if you have the Fives model as a generic you can still do the 4 and then run a strike team with the DC-15x...technically Echo can act as another DC-15x upgrade if your opponent doesn't mind letting you proxy the card.

I just found it worth noting that this was the first time two upgrades that add miniatures shared a model in common.

I'm personally planning on buying two, so since Fives and Echo are unique will only model one of each.

They said in the stream that they are Heavies and went on to say that personnel upgrades were not something they wanted on Special Forces as it made costing the Specialists impossible so you are correct.
Also I guess we were basically saying the same thing on the dual purpose models hahah.

Yeah, I just was pointing out it was the first time that a dual purpose model was included rather than dedicated models for each option. I find it interesting it happened to the clones before the droids.

It would have been interesting for a design that allowed for the two of them to be the Strike Team, somehow upgrading the default model to Fives if Echo is taken as the Heavy for instance. I'm not surprised on the lack of personnel upgrade though, that's been a fairly consistent design, especially with the way the Specialist packs work.

This exactly. I guess FFG thinks that Danger Sense is really effective at keeping units alive but its really not. Jyn's Danger Sense 3 is kinda helpful but only Danger Sense 2 on Bane? Thats not gonna help much at all. I think he needs Danger Sense 2 AND Uncanny Luck 2 or three. THAT would make him a sweet unit that I'd be excited for

jyn has danger sense 4 and take it from someone who mains her she is super tanky

4 models, then the generic sniper heavy, Fives, and Echo. There’s only one heavy weapon that is non-limited.

Agreed: she’s an operative for sure. I could see any number of generals that would be unique aliens, or even the tactical drones like Kraken as a cheap option.

Same. Maybe the extras can become generic ARC forces for filling in rank? If not, I’ll just do one helmeted and one not?

Jyn's courage 3. I hardly ever lose an action on her. With 3-4 supression on her and in heavy cover, most enemies just don't bother to shoot at her any further 😛

And yes, I was mistaken, I meant Cad's 2pip ;) obviously, Danger Sense seems worse on him than Pathfinders/Jyn due to factors like lower courage, lower range, no dauntless etc. But this card is close to making up for that ;)

also let's not forget jyn has a xommand card that makes your army immune to suppression and panic

The DC-15A is one of the default unit weapons as well, so I thought at least one of the long rifles pictured was a "standard trooper." Perhaps that is FFG's intention, for the long rifles to either be the DC-15A or the DC-15x?

Edit: The above was based on what is now the "Legends" designation of the weapons.

I figure the two spare bodies mean I will have spares for representing other model upgrades like generic captain, or custom unit leaders.

don't have to use the models as fives and echo, especially if you get more than 1.

Which is my plan for the spare(s) of subsequent boxes. I was just noting it's the first time that every option doesn't have a dedicated model is all, which is different from every previous kit.

Pathfinders are still the only non Commander box in the game that if you buy 2 you have minis you cannot use in completive play

Not necessarily true, arguably the Deathtroopers box is in the same category with DT-F16 I think. But that model isn't as distinctive.

At least the abnormalities are so far limited to boxes with unique upgrade miniatures.

I think the ARC troopers might also be the first time there are 3 heavy weapon upgrades in a single box as well.

The Republic Sniper strike team is the same cost as their cheapest corps option...

Well, they are supposed to be the "Elite" faction.

The DC-15A is the short rifle that's standard for both Corp units, Fives is the only mini that includes it in the sculpt. My hope is like the Phase 1 expansion they include the option to give them DC-15As tho.

Wait, when the everloving heck did the rifle designations change? I haven't spent as much time as I would like with Legion lately (and even less around anyone playing Republic), so didn't catch the overlap there.

What is now called the DC-15 USED to be called the DC-15A, and what is now called the DC-15A used to be called the DC-15S. Thanks for pointing that out.

Edit: Worst case, arm/hand/weapon swaps?

I actually figured Ventress would fill the spot that Cassian and Iden do for the GCW factions. At times, she commands droid armies and nightsisters, so she's a commander, but then she's also Dooku's assassin, so she's an operative. She fits both roles.
