If you want a better example then take Offensive Push. Droids can only get a single copy of it through Cad Bane if the spreads are accurate. Since I can't field more than one of him, buying multiple just so I can use it on more than one unit would be a horrible waste of money.

Yes. I'm not saying this isn't an issue, or an annoyance. But I also feel like... what else is Fantasy Flight supposed to do ? They can't put every upgrade in every box. They can't retroactively put upgrades in boxes. They can't release a new upgrade card pack every time a new upgrade comes out. Now, I do wish they would have included Offensive Push with the BX droids, since I could see maybe using that on them, and since I am pretty much only buying CIS stuff right now I don't have any copies of it. But as long as I am right about the EMP grenades being included with Inferno Squadron and Clan Wren, and they release a new card pack every year or so, I have no serious complaints about how they are doing upgrade cards.

Yyyyyes, but it's not a faction-specific paywall. Both CW factions have access to it without buying cross-faction, and I expect it will show up in Inferno Squadron and Clan Wren as well. It's only a paywall in the sense that it's a product that costs money, like literally every product that exists for this game.

It would have been if the EMP grenades weren't included in the Commando droid box, the CIS then wouldn't have a unit that provided the card, which is how they avoided the paywall, which is what the original comment meant (avoiding faction paywall as opposed to creating a faction paywall).

Currently only Grievous could use it as no other droid units have that upgrade. Its honestly not that big of a deal. Print it out and use that version. I doubt anyone would bat an eye.

Casually sure, but some Tournaments might check cards (at least in passing, like a TO looking while walking around).

Yeah, the amp grenade is called a droid poppers. The question marks become why are droids carrying them? (Besides card factions paywalls)

Card faction paywall is reason enough. Also, having an ion weapon when they have none currently.

Like other stuff I'm sure they will be distributed either in card packs or in upcoming releases for other factions (Clan Wren and Inferno Squad maybe?)

Guessing all of the above. Card pack is likely, and also likely to be in those new releases.

You don’t have other units that can even take it. I’m also sure that it’ll be in a future card pack.

Yeah, that makes as much sense as non-droid factions carrying grenades that hurt people! Wait... 😮

Grievous , Cad Bane, and the BX droids can. I could see using it on all of them, with the exception of maybe Grievous since he likes tenacity or endurance.

Legion has been good about releasing all the card with all the factions so far. However that is most certainly not the case for all their games. I can't speak for X-Wing as I don't play, but Armada is bad about it and requires you to buy ships from the faction you aren't playing as to get access to certain cards.

That isn't to say Legion doesn't falter with this. Strict Orders is still only available through Krennic or the more recent card pack. And while I appreciate that they plan on doing card packs, I don't like paying for a single card from a pack that is only slightly less expensive than the commander it comes with.

Edit; Oh and by the way, unless Inferno Squad and Clan Wren get released at the same time as the ARCs and BX Droids (I doubt they will given how the releases have been going) it will be a faction specific paywall for early access to EMP grenades.

That isn't true I'm not sure what else it comes in but I know it is on a rebel set

I suspect we will see Clan Wren and Inferno squad a month later, though we should know for certain in a month when we get their official announcement.

Could be 2 months if the operatives are a different month

Hard to say, the FFG releases seem to be four+ products at a time as opposed to two.

I would expect Inferno Squad and Iden to drop at the same time, if they did Wren and Cassian together that makes 4...

It would be kinda weird if products that were announced months apart from each other released at the same time.

We still have STAPs and GAR AT-RTs to be announced as well.

We know that they at they wanted to change their release options since their point change video a few months ago, but all these release issues have cause quite a mess. Q1 2020 lineup we saw Dooku/Rex released early and it looks like Iden/Cassian (and most likley the ATT) were all pushed back.

They started to call releases now waves and we know that they increased the number to 8 units for each wave. We now know that least 4 coming out together. So when they announce clan Wren, Inferno, Staps, and AT-RTs we can finally know if they are doing a giant release or two groups of 4.

My money is on a giant release in each quarter, but I would not mind group of 4.

Well, the devs have always made Legion in "waves", they've phrased it that way since the beginning, it's the marketing and other logistics guys who decided on a roughly monthly drop format for Legion. The recent clustering is because delays have had releases kind of bunch up.

Rex, Dooku, and the second corps units were all announced at the same time yet were released months apart for logistical reasons, which was kinda weird. Let's be honest "kinda weird" is a nice way to refer to the current state of FFG's Legion releases.

Look at Rex and Dooku though, they came out months ahead of schedule while the other items were delayed. I don't think its unreasonable to think they might group the GCW releases together. For all we know, the other 2 rumored Clone Wars expansions could be announced with items we don't know about yet.

Unless I'm forgetting one, those two expansions are the only two that have been released early to the general public. For all we know they do plan on releasing the GCW stuff along with the CW stuff this time, but with how the releases have been going since the dewbackle I wouldn't count on it actually happening.
