LbE had stats for the Assertor-class Command Dreadnought. (seriously though, Star Wars ship costs are crazy cheap. You could buy 4 of the darn thing for the cost of a single Nimitz!)

Definitely not a dollar-to-credit comparison. But Luke said that he and Obi-Wan could almost buy their own ship for the cost of the charter to Alderaan...and Han agreed, his selling point being the pilot that they’d need.

Im going with massive automation in the space docks accounts for the cheapness.

Didn't they pay for it by selling Luke's space car? Meaning you can buy a ship for the price of a used car.

I believe he said almost...and Han said yeah but who's going to fly it...

Apparently my memory and my first google search lied to me, it's now saying the Nimitz was 8.5 billion? Whatever. Anyway, somebody did a currency comparison for Credit to USD and it wasn't significantly different.

Still a bit wacky if you ask me. Doesn't really change my opinion on how much I like Star Wars though, it just gets a little lot goofy when you get to the larger ships.

They managed to get the 2000 down, with the rest, I presume, expected to be paid by Bail when they got to Alderaan.

And the price went up by 2000 after that exchange. The impression being given from context was that Han was charging a lot, and (possibly less intentionally), that ships are relatively cheap. But good pilots are valuable.

the math is wacky on the upper end goods are cheaper...

In a universe with "Mon Calamari," "Savage Opress," "Elan Sleazebaganno," and “Ima-Gun Di” goofy left the station a long time ago. :D

I've gotta admit, names like that are part of why I love Star Wars...

I can't argue. I knew what Mon Calamari was before I knew what Calamari was. I was raised on the Marvel Star Wars comics. I danced a jig when Jaxxon the Lepi made it into new canon. My serious Star Wars fans hated it.

An evil wizard of space called Sidious.

The smuggler out for himself (and his dog) called Solo.

And in my headcanon, Mace Windu is still a Squib.

My only qualm about Jaxxon (and Amaiza, and Valance) being brought into the new canon is that now I don’t know whether or not I should still include them in my long-gestating homebrew sourcebook focused on the old Marvel series.

Wait, when was Mace a Squib?

Do it. I want it, the people want it, Archie Goodwin would want it, and Stan Lee would want it. Do it for Stan and Archie.

Originally. When WEG did the Star Wars game they got a load of unused names. A Squib got named Mace Windu. Later it was retconned into the Squib being named after the Jedi.

To be fair, Canon explained the latter one away, and Sith intentionally pick names like "Bane," "Maul," Tyrannus," or "Sidious" etc.

Nevermind.

And you're being a liar who makes up stuff I haven't actually said.

and now you're being a prick. Forgive me for not citing my sources then.

I'm not gonna pretend the line is fine towards new people. That would be dishonest.

Was the line I was referring to. I can't help but read that as very confrontational, negative and imply what I suggested you would be saying to a new player.

That and your overly negative language used throughout this topic. Satisfied?

No Ebak! The thread had moved on. Or should I say moved back? :)

Forgive me, excited for this book!

The Nimitz would cost considerably less if it was built in a socialist country like the Empire. Also look at Nazi Germanys impressive weapons research programs, their basic research ideology is still superior in terms of results vs capital spent (in terms of embracing failure in scientific research not talking their morals).

We (the US) currently vastly out spend the competition (bu so much of it is waste) and they (Russia, China, and even Iran) are pulling ahead of us in many military technologies, like fighters, missiles, radar and SAMs.

Also Star Wars factory’s are highly automated, the supply chain being the biggest limiting factor.

And much of the supply chain is also automated...

Citation needed for Iran.
