Looking at the mini lines, I'm a bit surprised that the K-wing didn't show up. I believe it is one of the few craft from X-wing and Armada that doesn't (and likely never will) have official RPG stats.

To be fair, the K-wing is awful . I've seen some redesigns that work, but the original doesn't remotely fit into the Star Wars aesthetic.

Edit: No Scurrg H-6 either IIRC

Speaking of EA, any word on if Andrew Wilson changed his stance on not liking Star Wars?

As for the book I’m sad there is no Holdo Maneuver mechanic. I should have the ability to destroy the Death Star with a starter ship damnit!

I and many others disagree, the K-Wing is perfect in Star Wars

I really like the K-Wing. Granted, I've always been a sucker for a "plane" with a lot of munitions (check nametag), but it's still a pretty good-looking ship in my estimation. I think I prefer the H-Wing though. That probably would have been a better choice for TLJ than the starfortress bomber (way too big a target) as it is a natural evolution of the Y-Wing and doesn't look really goofy.

There is no unified Star Wars aesthetic.

Its reminds of a Star Wars version of an A-10 or A-1 Skyraider

So I got my copy and the first thing I wanted to check was the Mandalorian Protectorate 'Fang' Fighter...because we all know that needed a 4th stat block :P

I noticed this as the last paragraph.

Quote

The design has been such a success for MandalMotors that the Fang is Produced at several factories. Each of these plants is run by a different Mandalorian Clan, and while they are not aggressive toward each other, the clans are rivals. Managers had their in-house design teams tweak the Fang’s capabilities to try and one-up their peers. When this was uncovered, the board of directors ordered an end to the competition and standardised the Fang fighter’s performance profile.

Well played FFG, well played. :P

...not to mention the illustrator that included his amateurish work in the New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels obviously never read the Black Fleet Crisis source material. The K-Wing introduced in that trilogy was described much differently ... such as (a) having no armament other than its bombs, (b) having a cockpit in which the bombardier sits behind (or was it in front of?) the pilot, (c) having its third engine placed underneath the wing and at an angle, and (d) being a much smaller craft than most Rebel/New Republic starfighters.

Anyway, the K-Wing was clearly a New Republic addition along with the E-Wing. And I don't think the E-Wing has FFG stats yet... Or does it? (I'll freely admit I do not own all of the available RPG material from FFG.)

So what is the deal with this Starships and Speeders book?

I've had it on preorder with MiniatureMarket for months now. Yet they still don't have it. Neither does CoolStuffInc.

But many of you are finding it at your local gaming stores...?

Is there something going on behind the scenes? Or is it simply taking a while to reach the larger retail outlets?

My Not-FLGS had five copies on the shelves yesterday. They were marked up above MSRP too.

Yeah, seems really strange. Anyone with inside knowledge know what's going on?

E-wing is in Stay on Target. Take an X-wing, +2 HTT -2 SST, drop lasers to Linked 2, increase torpedo Limited Ammo to 8 and... that's pretty much it.

In this case, the local store knows it's hard to find online (right now) and that people are buying them up quick because of probable line-death, so he decided to mark them up $5. He figures that people would likely pay that in S&H if they do find it somewhere else, so he's willing to give it a go. If they don't sell right away, he plans to hold onto them until they are even more rare and make more money. I did say it's not a very friendly FLGS.

Is that legal?

supply and demand

if the store owner has bought them from FFG, then they're his, so he can sell them at the price he chooses, when he chooses. welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism

gonna quote the prequels anyway: "I will make it legal"

Where I live, book prices are set by the publishers and shops aren't legally allowed to charge a different price, barring some few exceptions.

depends on country I guess

see in the US they tend to go buy the MSRP but they cant force it unless they have a contract

GW is known for trying to force places to sell at listed prices and will jack up the stores prices if they under cut them

Speculation is why I when to e comics instead of supporting local comic shops.

It's as American as unreasonably expensive healthcare and profiteering off of political office.

I emailed Miniature Market to ask. The response:

I apologize, the Friday, February 28th Fantasy Flight Games releases were shipped out a bit late from the manufacturer. We should have our copies in stock shortly, and all preorders will be shipped as soon as the items arrive.

Mines through Coolstuffinc. No movement on the preorder this weekend, even as store pickup. Anyone else?

My FLGS in Colorado Springs had it on February 28th, at the listed MSRP.

I’ve stopped ordering from them. I do most of my internet access on iPad now, and their site doesn’t work on mobile. At all.

I can’t even tell them that I don’t use their site anymore, because it doesn’t work.

I now buy my SWRPG books through Amazon, and this last time was the first time that I had problems. The February 28th shipment is now due in April, so I bought another copy from another source at a much higher price. Whichever arrives first, I’ll cancel the other.

I just got off the phone with somebody at Coolstuff. Told me that the last few shipments from Fantasy Flight have been late, and to give it another week.

I may have to exercise other options. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
