Operative Luke and command hand

By jocke01, in Star Wars: Legion

Still waiting for my Luke operative to arrive. Been pondering lists and while you can go with Leia or an extra operative, I think generic officer + Luke will be the best choice.

This brings me to command hand. With the new pack you have 6 Luke Skywalker cards and I wonder how many to go with. All 6 actually feels like a solid idea, but you will prob lose hard if Luke dies before turn 5.

His old cards were solid and the new ones feels bananas. Full of suprises can let you tank several attacks if your officer can give him an extra dodge and any unit shooting him will risk alot. Serve your master well + jedi mind trick is insane when going into the enemy line and follow that with I am a jedi next round to shutdown the enemy.

Return of the jedi and my ally is the force feels like they should be in there since they both help Luke and the rest of your army. The only one I'm uncertain with is son of Skywalker wich might be overkill with operative Luke since you have disengage to leave an enemy unit that's down to 1-2 models. If you run tenacity, you will probably have a strong enough attack to destroy most targets anyway.

What do you guys think and what have you been using. Is it too greedy to go 5-6 Luke command cards?

Just tried the new cards out tonight 600 pts list with generic commander and operative luke. Rebels were 4 z6s and 1 fleets.

Game was intercept transmissions. All cards played well for me at the right times. Full of Surprises helped deflect some heavy attacks from vader and deathtroopers. I am a jedi kept him in the game to the end of round 6 as he was down to 1 wound. Quite happy with them. Won by 10 to 2. Op Luke as a unit causes serious damage. Cleaned out units and landed 3 wounds on op vader. I played agaisnt him last time and he cleaned through my units too

Son of Skywalker might overkill, but its MUCH better to overkill and remove an activation then to leave one alive with a little health. Dont look at it like an overkill, look at it like a confirm Kill. It's an auto include for me.

Full of Suprises is great defense, and I am a Jedi can be game winning at the end of the game.

Return of Jedi and Ally is the Force are great includes because they help the rest of your army.

Serve your master well is up to you, depending on if you are running any other Heroes. I wouldn't run it over any of the other 1 pips, R2s blast off, Leias bombardment, Hans Mess, and even Chewies, which combos with Luke.

Son of Skywalker is an incredibly powerful command card. Most of the time when I use son of Skywalker it's not to take out one little trooper unit its to take out an enemy commander or really damage a Vader/Palpy. If you do want to use it against trooper units, try to set up an attack where 2 units are in melee with you using something like force push or playing You Serve Your Master Well the round before, crippling or possibly killing two separate units with Son of Skywalker

But using operative Luke is so fun to get all 6 of his command cards. Definitely makes him the most fun unit to use and one of the most powerful

I run all six or five plus Smoke Screen with R2 (cutting I am a Jedi).

I wouldn’t worry about putting all your eggs in one basket; you are doing that anyway just by running Jedi Luke. If Luke dies you are probably screwed anyway for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with playing standing orders the rest of the game.

If I am putting all my eggs in one basket with Luke I like to also have a squad of rebel troopers with a 2-1B med droid and environmental gear. The environmental gear helps them stay close to Luke to give him a couple extra wounds. Plus they can grab objectives. However I do try to keep them cheap as they are somewhat expendable, and really are only there to keep Luke in the fight longer.
