I'e searched and couldn't find an answer, so I apologize if it's been discussed before.

With the new superweapon upgrade card type, how would we go about obtaining one in an RitR campaign since those upgrades are not listen on any current battle rewards? Is there a FAQ somewhere that lists the planets it could apply to, or perhaps any good house rules?

Currently there is no way to get them, besides starting with them. Given this, your group can maybe house rule which locations can give super weapon as a reward, or treat for example the experimental retrofits as super weapon too.

Sure you can. Depending on how you interpret the selling and buying rules. We interpret them as if you have 3 bases you can buy and sell 3 types of squadron and/or upgrades.

They are not unique so you could buy them that way. Makes them twice as expensive, but you could still do it.

According to the written rules, the upgrades that you buy must be of the same type as the ones you sell. You can choose another type only for squadrons.

Of course if your group agrees you can absolutely play it your way, but it's not a matter of interpretation.

I agree. We are playing it that way. That said, we read the rules to allow you to re-buy the upgrade card you sold. For example, I sold boosted comms and a generic hwk-290 and then bought 2 boosted comms back since I needed two for my fleet.

Yes, by the rules you can absolutely do that.

But it does not say you have to actually have a card to sell for the type that you pick. (it actually says "may remove")

So I could choose X-wings and the Super-weapon upgrade cards. I sell 1 X-Wing, and no Super-weapon upgrade.
I can then buy a super weapon upgrade for 7 points.

So we took it that if I have 3 bases, I could sell X-wings, Super weapon, and Officers. Sell all 3 and buy something from Super Weapon or Officer, and another type of squadron.

But if I am not mistaken you guys took it as, if I have 3 bases I can

Sell 1 squadron and/or type, Buy same type, then loose the excess points.
Sell 1 squadron and/or type, Buy same type, then loose the excess points.
Sell 1 squadron and/or type, Buy same type, then loose the excess points.

(I put and/or because that is the way it would have to read to do it your way. The book actually only says "Or" so we took that to mean you cannot do both, unless you have multiple bases. Or to me means one OR the other...not both. But in the example Melissa clear does both)

I cannot really see anyone doing that 7 times if they have 7 bases. (not that this makes it wrong) Just seemed to make more sense to combine it.

Read the example and assume Melissa has 2 bases.

Even in the example she is selling squads and officer card to only buy another officer card. (assume she has 2 bases).

But I for sure can see it being the way you guys are doing it as well. And I may be just way over thinking it.

Yeah, I think that's just not correct. The rules state:

"If a player decides that some of their squadrons or upgrades are no longer useful for their fleet, they can remove them during this step. Each player can remove up to one type of squadron or upgrade card for each base that their team has on the campaign map, as described below.

1. That player chooses one type of squadron or upgrade card (by icon) to remove from their fleet. That player may then remove a number of squadrons or upgrade cards of the chosen type.

2. That player may then purchase other squadrons of a different type, or additional upgrade cards of the chosen type..."

The first step is looking at how many bases you have. When I did my buy/sell, we had 4 bases, so I could have chosen a total of 4 types of squadrons/upgrade types to remove from my fleet. I only had to choose 2 for buy/sell as I was selling boosted comms (offensive retrofit) and hwk-290 squadron type. So, I then indicated I was selling those two things. Because I had sold boosted comms, the "chosen type" of upgrade was offensive retrofit. You then total the value of the things you are selling and divide by 2 - in my example, boosted comms = 4 and hwk-290 = 12, for total of 16, divided by 2 = 8). With that 8 points, I could then buy 2 boosted comms (4 points each) in the chosen type - i.e., offensive retrofit.

If you don't sell an upgrade card, you don't have a "chosen type" that you are removing from your fleet in step 1, so you can't buy that in step 2. This means that having/getting the right types of upgrade cards from the map is paramount - which makes total sense as what is the point of having all of these locations with only specific types of awards if you could willy-nilly buy anything you want later?

You certainly can sell those 3 types if you have 3 bases and have those kinds of upgrade cards. But if you don't have a super weapon or officer to sell, how can you "choose" to remove that from your fleet? You can't. Therefore, you can't choose those types to buy in step 2.

Yeah, no. You do this as one combined action. Decide on all the stuff you want to sell as step 1 (up to a total number equal to the number of bases you have). Step 2, buy based on the stuff you sold. In the example, Melissa could buy an officer card because she sold an officer card. Note that it didn't say she could buy an officer card even though she didn't sell one.

I agree that the rule is not 100% clearly written, but to me when it says "The player chooses one type of squadron or upgrade card (by icon) to remove from their fleet" you have to have something to remove in the first place.

Why do I assume that? because if not the campaign system is broken. There will be no point in attacking any place that doesn't give you squadrons.

To put a practical example, lets say that I need to get Assault Concussion Missiles. I could for example attack Mandalore to gain it fair and square, but I have to win the battle to get the points I need; or I could simply attack Lothal or Montross and even if I loose I could get my Assault Concussion Missiles by selling my 15 points of squadrons to buy 8 points of anything I want (not to mention that if I win I could sell those 30 points to buy me those ACM and some other upgrade from any type I want with those 8 remaining points, given that my team has 3 bases which is not uncommon at all). By doing that I think that the campaign looses its touch and I think that's not the intention here.

I like where this discussion has gone, the selling of upgrade cards was so poorly written we've just never done it. Your takes on it make me feel like it's actually worth using now.
