Does The Ring still work if it's not analog?

I don't know what analog means, so I'll say yes just to sound like I do. Yes. Uh oh. Did I just say that out loud?

Recall that in "The Ring," the video that was being propagated was a VHS tape (analog format—it's on a film), as opposed to digital, such as DVD. One of the most interesting scenes was the revelation that the VHS tape had no header code (or whatever the VHS equivalent is) that all VHS tapes necessarily have and therefore was, in a way, "impossible" to have been created. The "being born without fingerprints" analogy was down-to-Earth enough for most.
