First Order Aces 2.0

By Cyptor, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey everyone, just created this First Order Aces list and would like some advice. I was really excited when Vonreg was announced because it is possible now to fly 3 I6 and 1 I7 ship in the same list, which means you can pretty much move every single one of your ships after your opponent.

TIE/fo Fighter - •“Null” - 31
•“Null” - Epsilon Ace (30)

TIE/sf Fighter - •“Quickdraw” - 57
•“Quickdraw” - Defiant Duelist (45)
Fanatical (2)
Special Forces Gunner (10)

TIE/fo Fighter - •“Midnight” - 45
•“Midnight” - Omega Leader (42)
Fanatical (2)

TIE/ba Interceptor - •Major Vonreg - 57
•Major Vonreg - Red Baron (57)

Total: 190/200

Did you have Fanatical on Vonreg as well? That doesn't add up to 190 for me.

Lots of I6s is a fun thought. Just wondering whether you really need a 10 point bid!

Oh! that's some of the squadbuilder error folks have been seeing, and discussing here.

Looks like Null is contributing 31, and Midnight 45, which is each 1 more point than they ought to contribute, and based on their pre-January costs.

Anyhow, looks mostly fine. Deep bid, but a list like this probably wants a deep bid. There's a few options for other upgrades, but overall there aren't any bad upgrades, and the bid might be more important than those stray potential upgrades. Some potentials to consider. I don't know that any of these are necessarily better, but just options you should think about.

  • Daredevil on Vonreg: he often pulls blue moves to clear strain/deplete, so having access to red hard boosts is pretty neat. Vital? Probably not.
  • Fanatical on Vonreg: not always great, since he's only got 2 hull, but it's still potential passive mods, and would give him a lot more action flexibility once half-pointed.
  • Crack Shot on Quickdraw: QD is a very damage-forward pilot. Trying to get more out of her early, rather than late game once she's lost her shields, is valid.
  • FCS on Quickdraw: it's pretty common. I'm mixed on it since I don't like locking too much in general, but most folks staple it on.
  • Afterburners on QD: Init 6 ships like Boost actions. 'Nuff said.
  • Pattern Analyzer on QD: being able to S-Loop to keep your guns on target while taking an action is great.
  • Keeping the Bid: when you've got this much I6, going last seems like a solid goal. Investing 12 points in the bid is pretty handy.

Is it the best way to build a FO list? Probably not. Midnight + Null is 74 points, and Kylo Ren is 76. Swapping them out for Kylo almost surely makes a better list, but it isn't a 4-ship list with all ships at Init 6+.

I would definitely get Daredevil on Vonreg and trade Fanatical for FCS on QD - I think V needs the turn around option within a system of getting actions, and I think QD needs the source of "passive" mods off the bat.

As for the remaining 10 points, I like the idea of any combination of bidding, or PA on the TIEs
