Poe-a-matic list ideas? (Hyperspace)

By KingmanHighborn, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Had fun in a one ship game with this and been trying to slot it into a full 200 point list:

Poe Dameron (68)
Outmaneuver (6)
Integrated S-Foils (0)
Advanced Optics (4)
Black One (2)
Autoblasters (3)
Total: 83

The challenge though is pretty straight forward. I need to get Poe outside of my opponent's arc, while still having 'something' to hurt him if goes after Poe. To that end I've humored Ion Cannon X-wings, but I'm not really confident with just a pair of X-Wings, I don't see many triple X squads out there. It's mostly XXX+Something. (Which I have 2 As, a Couch, and a Fireball so...options?)

I dropped optics for r4.

Poe Dameron (68)
Outmaneuver (6)
R4 Astromech (2)
Integrated S-Foils (0)
Black One (2)
Autoblasters (3)

Red Squadron Expert (44)
Heroic (1)
Integrated S-Foils (0)

Red Squadron Expert (44)
Heroic (1)
Integrated S-Foils (0)

Rose Tico (26)
Heroic (1)
Total: 198

I'm a little mixed on the Outmaneuver/Autoblasters combination, @KingmanHighborn . ABS doesn't add anything over Poe's primary weapon, except maybe out-of-arc crits being slipped through. But Autoblasters gets worse the lower your opponent's agility. It'll add next to nothing against a ship Outmaneuver has reduced to 1 green die. Even against something reduced to 2 green dice, the damage added by Autoblasters is pretty low. I just don't think the two upgrades belong on the same ship, and @wurms is right that Poe needs R4 if he's not bringing BB-8 (and BB-8 isn't necessarily great).

Where does that leave Poe? Heroic/Autoblasters? Outmaneuver and no Hardpoint? Optics possible on either version, too.

Outmaneuver/Optics might feel pretty nice to me. Poe does a single reposition action and takes a Focus. Optics gives Poe a much more consistent attack, and Outmaneuver helps those consistent hits land.

The only ship I'd add into the discussion as a filler is an Optics T-70. It's a ship which will punch-up if left alone to use it's focus offensively (Optics alone is about as strong as Outmaneuver, in terms of the damage it'll push), but if attacked, well, then they're not attacking Poe.

Something like:

  • Poe (Outmaneuver, Advanced Optics, R4 Astromech, Black One) 82
  • Blue Squadron Rookie (Advanced Optics) 46
  • Blue Squadron Rookie (Advanced Optics) 46
  • Rose Tico (-) 26
    • Or just a generic Fireball blocker...
  • Total 200

Not saying it's better, just that it's another way of building these ships. Maybe it clicks for you, maybe it doesn't.

Only have two RZ-2s but I like the aesthetical look of this.

Yeah, the other thing is I can keep the wings closed and the autoblasters suffer nothing from it.

I know, but with Outmaneuver, you don't really gain anything from Autoblasters. I'd rather just use the points elsewhere.

I'm in love with ABS/Outmanuever Poe. but I agree with @wurms ABS can sometimes be worthless. I posted a build in a new thread before seeing this topic so I'll put some findings in here as well to forward the discussion.

I went with ABS/Outmanuver BB8 Primed thrusters Poe as my Poe of choice. I also keep flip flopping between afterburners or spare parts. Spare parts has been more useful in headsim. I am also considering dropping ABS and the mod to fit prockets on one of my A-wings.

My reason for putting ABS on however has been for Jedi and Boba. Getting an unblockable crit through on Jedi and Boba is clutch in my games. There is a lot of both in my local scene so I'm just teching against the field.

Basically with Poe getting an ion cannon he can whip around on a target with black one, take an ion, then hopefully ion the target and let the other 2 t70s bully the target. And eventually slip out of arc for finishing blows with autoblasters.
