Wither Spell

By alboy, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

The spell Wither says cast & exhaust to gain +3 Combat checks, does that mean an extra 3 dice to roll or +3 to your Combat total.

Yes to both. You get +3 to your Combat checks for this turn which usually means that you will get three aditional dice.

no. it's +3 to your total. if your fight is 1 and you cast wither, and the monster has a combat rating of -3 then you will have 1 die.

@A. Harbinger- please stop answering for things you don't know the asnwer for sure (and obviously you don't)

@alboy- please stop opening a thread for each question you have. try to ask them all in a single thread.

Which is exactly what I said. Having to substract the monster's combat rating should be pretty self-explanatory.

then how it is "yes to both"? the OP asked if it nets him 3 extra dice or if it adds to the total. it only adds to the total. 3 extra dice means you will get 3 dice even if your combat rating is -5. which is obviously not the case. so it's not "yes to both" it's "yes to the latter". stop misleading people. also here:

If I'm not mistaken, it should be the start of the next turn.

As I've said in that thread, you are mistaken. stop misleading people. you shouldn't be answering questions if you're not 100% knowledgable in the rules. obviously, you are not.

Not as I understand it. I understand his question as "Do I get three aditional dice or is my combat rating raised by three?". And as I clearly stated, the combat rating is raised by three for this turn, which means three aditional dice. So "Yes to both".

Firstly, like you've never made a mistake in your entire life, Kroen. I'm sure if we went digging around these forums we could find a few threads were you made posts that turned out not to be factually correct according to the printed rules, and yet you obviously still post things around here.

Secondly, I think Harbinger's original answer is perfectly clear and correct. Particularly the inclusion of the word "usually" makes it quite clear that the player will not *always* be rolling 3 dice. Other factors may apply which are not specifically being called out by the OP or by his answer.

There's no need to be so hostile, these forums are a community not a robotic answer factory. You can add your two cents to the discussion without needing to ream out other members and if you feel his answer is incorrect, there are certainly more polite ways to correct him.

Ditto.

This is not me hostile. You wouldn't like me when I'm hostile.

Just because your "normal" state is a low level of hostility does not mean you are not being hostile. Several people would not be commenting on this if it were done differently.

I'm not incredibly found of you now.

+3 is plus 3 dice subtracted by whatever the game tells you to do next. A. Harbringer gave the correct answer.

If poeple here arent going to like you when you are hostile, what exactly is the difference? Its like you not having to draw a Curse becouse you already have one.
