Once again, forgive me if this has already been answered.
My group just finished Act One, and it’s time for the Alliance to declare the location and Objective for the Pivotal Battle. Our question is this:
On page 26 of the RitR Campaign Guide, under “Pivotal Battle Objectives”:
“Each pivotal battle... is a unique scenario with a different objective , which is chosen by the team that declared the pivotal battle’s location.” (Bold text is mine)
It then goes on to describe the Pivotal Battle Objectives. There are exactly three.
The captain of the other team takes the bolded (by me) text above to mean that each of these three objectives may be used once (and only once) per campaign. Which makes some sense, as there are three objectives given, a maximum of three Pivotal Battles, etc... I was ready to agree. Then I saw this (p.27, under “Evacuation”):
“Campaign Points Requirement: This objective can be chosen only if the difference between both teams’ campaign point totals is greater than or equal to three.”
I imagined a scenario in which the other two objectives had already been played, the third Pivotal Battle was set to take place, and the teams were one point apart. This would prevent us from choosing Evacuation, and as the other two had already been played, they wouldn’t be valid choices, if my friend were correct. Which leads me to believe that FFG did not intend to limit the objectives to once per campaign each.
So what’s the deal? Can we say, play Conquest three times if we like?
