Which is inexplicable right? Where did Queen and later Senator Padme get her skills? Leia at least is justified in having led an armed rebellion.

Maybe she used to bullseye Gungans in her T-16 back home.

It would be nice if there were some level of dialog to support the out of character skills shown.

I mean, her having combat skills is like if Mon Mothma or Ackbar were a CQC specialist, just totally out of left field.

Or CIS but your opponent has to field him, and it's all things that hurt your units or make them test to not shoot allies near opposing forces.

He makes no sense as CIS. He hated the clones, not the Republic. If he shows up, he'll be GAR and really aggressive with the clones.

Well, the handmaidens are also bodyguards, so if the Queen is going to completely pass as a handmaid she should/could receive the same sort of training. Combat training also isn't strictly a bad way to spend time between meetings and other official functions, and would be a decent way to stay fit. Plus with the number of attempts on her life, not a bad idea to stay sharp.

The point was he wouldn't actually be fielded IN the CIS army, but point made.

Yeah I'm reasonably sure padme was trained in basic self-defense and stuff as part of being a head of state, and never relaxed in that on account of people trying to murder her for like 15 years.

Which CIS player would use him, then? It would tank in the store shelves.

It’ll have to do I guess. 🤭

The point is he would be a detriment to the other army. That design works a bit better in other games I admit, but I have see it executed well before. Give units in army with him (the opponent's) a chance of shooting each other, that sort of thing.

Having him be detrimental to the clones would cause him to never be fielded anyway.

It's more/better of an explanation than we get for other stuff in canon...

I would like to think that the endgame for Legion is to be a copy of X-wing, in all the good ways. Seven main factions with FFG taking their time to place each one in the right place so we don't end up with entire units getting pulled from a faction a few years later. OF course Scum has a lot of commander options with Jabba, Mother Talzan, and The Mandalorian. CIS only got Ventress and Papa Palp left so they may try to throw in Maul and Savage to bulk them up.

.......................Wonder who would get Pong Krell?

I hope Legion won't copy X-wing's faction structure 1:1. While X-wing is walking a fine line between basically a board game and a miniature war game, Legion is firmly in the second camp and thus allows to get more into nitty-gritty niuances of factions. While I fully expect there to be 5 factions soon, and possibly 2 sequel ones in the future, I hope Legion will eventually venture into sub-factions or theme lists for each of main factions - think Gungan Great Army, Saw's Partisans, Defenders of Khashyyyk, Mandalorians, Witches of Dathomir, etc. There's a plenty of untapped potential there.

Same goes for CIS commanders - there are many more to choose from, each member of Separatist Council could make it into the game (Poogle the Lesser, Wat Tambor), and TCW had a few commanders as well - Super Tactical Droids, Trench (yeah, I know, he's an admiral), Whorm Loathsom, Lok Durd, Kalani...

Also, I doubt there's anyone who doesn't want to see Pong Krell :D

i hope they never get him because he was never part of them plus i think he the perfect leader for scum and gangster faction he dose not fit with CIS in the least now if you where doing a trade federation army maybe. but I know he will come because of the rule of cool.

Not necessarily. The designers have stated in past interviews that they were trying to avoid having units in multiple factions except when it made absolutely no sense to do otherwise (specific example used in interview I remember is Hondo).

Legion is never getting a scum faction, sorry I'm just the messenger

Perhaps we should return discussing the B2 unit?

---

Anyway, I'm looking forward to use them. Between B2s, Dooku and/or Grievous, AAT and lots of B1s, the other player will have a lot to think on what to kill first!

Because of the rule of cool and because for most people the leader of the scum faction is Jabba. Not everyone has read the comics but everyone saw the movies. And a faction without force users would change a bit from what we have !

Again, if we're just going by the movies, Darth Maul is established as the leader of Crimson Dawn in Solo.

In what? Solo? Is it an animated one?

Perhaps it was a standalone film and got the name Solo since it was alone?

JK

However with canon being what it is and old legend rewriting stuff for background extras anything can happen and make sense in star wars.

In the next show or movie perhaps Jango survived being decapitated and is posing as thrawn by painting hus face blue. Therefor Jango could be released into the empire faction.

Well, he was basically an operative in phantom menace, so into k a strong case could be made for that. Maybe give him a mechanic to hunt HQ similar to bounty.

Operative for Palpatine, with a related goal to the Trade Federation, not the CIS, which didn't exist at the time. The Clone Wars started 10 years later.

Besides, the CIS should have Asajj Ventress as a Sith Operative in my opinion.

Yeah, if they put him in CIS (which I assume they will at some point), I'm sure it will be as an operative. I was just disputing the claim that people who have only seen the films are unfamiliar with Maul as a "scum" leader.

We will find out how much Legion is copying and repeating themselves on the 11th. If the leaks are real then are just doing the same units with their own twist. GAR with the best of the best and CIS.............. being the strange one? At best its going to be Rebles/Empire having the crazy units in the near future.

As for their hope of "theme releases" in the future that could go either way. I hope you are right and they do really branch off at some point, but I can somewhat understand why they would take the safe route and just copy X-wing success.

FFG missing out on on Jabba, Mother Talzan, Hondo, and the Rancor would be malpractice at best. I find the better question would be if Scum would come out next or will it be FO/Resistance. The ST would allow them to just repeat the release order while Scum they would have to change up their 8 release a quarter?

Do you have the source for that?

I think it was indicated in one or more of the Q&A panels from conventions.

It was one of the AMA streams, the most recent, I think? It was before the Mandalorian came out - they said that they were open to more factions like Scum, and that canon material like the Mandalorian made it easier.
