Ship Names?

By LeighPouse, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

My last group named their YT-1300 "The Century Bird".

A previous group wanted to be blockade runners and thought "Junk" would help.

Ina Starfinder campaign, my ship was "Harmony." Named after his deceased sister. Unfortunately, non of his crew found out that tidbit.

Let's see...

We had the Ghtroc 720 originally called the Killer's Killer , then renamed Bombaasa's Legacy , then Rampike and after refitting it with the transponder from another 720, Bladderbird , it was finally renamed Battlebird . Then it got blown up and replaced with the custom built Starbird .

The Venture from Jewel of Yavin was stolen and renamed Errant , which is a bit of an easter egg for the EU lore geeks.

Then there's the HWK-290 Little Scorn , the Lancer-class pursuit ship Starlight Express , the stealthy freighter Mirage and the smuggler ships Light of Luana, Cold Shoulder, Trouble Bound, Chipper Kipper and Transverse .

Honorable mentions: the interdictor Paroxysm and the shuttle pod Neutron Pixie.

My players are salvagers on a GS-100 ship called The Dianoga since it seems like they spend all their time in the garbage.

My current campaign's PCs tool around in a modified YT-1930 called the Ascendant Phoenix .

Past campaigns have featured a Ghtroc freighter called the Blue Bantha , a YT-1300 called the Tyrellian Starseeker , and a beat up model 578-R transport called the Enterprising Virgin . There were a few others, but I've forgotten the names.

My usual goto gag ship name is "Eon Eagle"

Currently our group has a Jedi Sojourner "Nightblade"

My payers have an old Dynamic Class freighter called The Echo Rising.

They love that ship... One day I really am going to have to blow it up 🤣

My main crew is trolling about in an old Baudo-class Star Yacht called the Senator's Pride . It once belonged to a Republic senator and hasn't been updated since before the Empire took over. We decided it's decorated like a house from the 70s, lots of wood paneling and shag carpet.

We even have a mini! One of my players is painting it. One more round of detail before it's finished.

Last campaign the PCs had the Krayt Fang. But they later took over a space station shadowport and named it Maru's Folly after the Black Sun crime lord they took down.

The PC's first ship, a YT-2400 started with the name Nova Chaser but had to rename it once their cover was blown and it's now the Flair Rider .

The PC's subsequently picked up a VCX-100 and the original name was the Lucky Leku (But that was a GM name assignment), and they renamed it to the Razza which is neither original and Trademarked! (Gah)! At the same time they named the Attack Shuttle the Butterfinger because of a storage tin that happened to be on the table. Not a brilliant time for the players, in my opinion. The Butterfinger has been destroyed but was replaced by the Liberator . (a Sheathipede shuttle).

The C-ROC will need to be renamed soon . . . I wonder what name they'll pick.

So those are the PC names chose (that I can remember).

Cin Vhetin (Mando'a for "clean slate" or "fresh start") a Zygerrian YV-865 Aurore -class that was captured and repurposed.

Liberator (Mando'a doesn't have a word for freedom 😢 ) a C-ROC Gozanti captured from slaving pirates and repurposed.

And then I've got a bunch that I named, but those were named by my players.

I'm going to have to name a ship Libatior in honor of Werner Herzog.

One of my players has a flair for the comedic. He named a Corellian corvette the Inane. He also christened their heavily modified yt-1750 Incontinence and his personal starfighter was christened Emperor's left nut , and their crowning jewel, though it was during an older d6 campaign, was the Star Destroyer they renamed Imperial Incompetence

He was quite overjoyed by the thought of Imperial officers having to announce that one of their ships was killed by any of the above.
