Dash / Lando

By eljms, in X-Wing Squad Lists

It's probably just my limited tournament exposure, but I don't feel like I see a lot of 'kiting' style lists any more - is that still a thing?

How would Dash / Lando get on? Something like this:

Dash Rendar (91)
Trick Shot (4)
Outrider (14)

Ship total: 109 Half Points: 55 Threshold: 5

Lando Calrissian (79)
Nien Nunb (5)

Ship total: 84 Half Points: 42 Threshold: 7

Total: 193

It much harder to kite effectively against a meta of MANY ships, but if any list could do it, this probably could

Dash Secret Sauce is Kanan Jarrus, and probably Lone Wolf (but if using Lando and staying close, LW is optional). Without Kanan, Expert Handling. Seriously. Being able to use that Barrel Roll on command, plus have full access to your dial seems vital to Dash. Trying to limit yourself to flying over obstacles or Dash's mediocre blues seems like it's just going to get killed. If the goal is kiting, then you'll need maximum mobility.

I've run this Dash / Lando list recently:

Dash Rendar (91)
Bistan (14)
Perceptive Copilot (8)

Ship total: 113 Half Points: 57 Threshold: 5

Lando Calrissian (79)
Nien Nunb (5)
Millennium Falcon (3)

Ship total: 87 Half Points: 44 Threshold: 7

Total: 200

I also tried Dash / Luke with Kanan and Lone Wolf on Dash instead of PerCop, as suggested above. I flew it very badly as it was my first time flying the YT-2400. The second attempt with Dash / Lando went better.

Bistan is an interesting choice. It's very expensive and wanting to take the focus can feel restrictive sometimes if you want to barrel roll or rotate (although Lando helps a bit with that). It also feels of limited use against aces as you're not likely to get two in the firing arc. However, against lists with generics it can help thin the herd a lot faster.

I'm not really sold on the Kanan / Lone Wolf thing but I only played a couple of games, it may well have just been my bad flying.

So straight swap Trick Shot for Expert Handling? Or would you get rid of the title on Dash to free up points? I'm kind of interested to get K2SO into this list on Lando.

I'd give it a try. I've personally been running Kanan, since the Force is good, but Title/EH probably works decent.

I'm mixed on K-2SO. If you use it to give the Calc to Lando, it kinda locks him out of his red Boost. Giving the Calc to Dash gives him stress. I guess you can choose when you want to toss that stress to Dash, when you already know you can Blue move or trigger Outrider (presuming Outrider... but the points don't really work out... sigh), but I mostly feel like it clashes. I think in the right list, K-2SO can be great, but I think it's important to pay attention to all the stress interactions in the list.

While I've enjoyed it, it also could easily not be enough. Dash isn't Boba, and can't stand up to massed fire. So I want to make him as mobile as possible. But maybe that also doesn't work.

Looks like someone did well with this in a large-ish event in Texas.

Lando Calrissian (Modified YT-1300 Light Freighter) Hull Upgrade Jyn Erso Nien Nunb Swarm Tactics
Wild Space Fringer (YT-2400 Light Freighter) Contraband Cybernetics Shield Upgrade Perceptive Copilot Bistan

I wonder how they flew it.

Interesting to put points into Hull / Shield Upgrades. Also, who's taking the evades? I'd think you'd want double focus on the Fringer for Bistan.

Jyn Erso is cheaper than the Falcon title.

Lando can focus/evade every round making him a hard bone to chew. Meanwhile the fringer unleashes its 4 dice mayhem....

I'd be tempted to be giving the Fringer Lando's free action so that it can get double mods on a four dice attack.

I don't think that works. My undestanding is that Jyn Erso is still a focus action, and since you can't Focus twice, Jyn doesn't let Lando Focus/Evade. Fringer can get both tokens from a single action, due to Perceptive Copilot. 1e Jan Ors would let someone Focus/Evade with two actions, but I don't think that's the case with 2e Jyn Erso.

That's probably what I'd do, as well. Fringer is engaging at Init 5 due to Swarm Tactics, and can have Focus/Lock/Evade on 2 greens and 11 HP, while doing a 4-dice cleave attack. An opponent probably can't ignore that level of hurt, so Fringer is the first target, but dies somewhat slowly due to being 11 HP with Evades. I suppose the goal is that by the time it goes down, the Fringer has done enough damage that Lando is able to clean up the rest of the enemy.

But with Bistan, wouldn't you want Focus/Focus/Lock to be sure of the second attack? Left over focus for defense isn't much worse than evade, especially over multiple attacks.

Is Leebo even an option? I've been trying to fit him into a list but I'm worried about the PS3. Bistan is a must I think but trying to get the extra focus tokens and not get arc dodged is tough

Not really.

Without crew or talent options, it's kind of hard to figure out what to do with Leebo, but plain Leebo without upgrades just doesn't seem good enough. Bistan won't work, since Leebo doesn't have a Focus action. A Force Gunner isn't great, since Leebo already has essentially unlimited Calculate tokens. So he'd need some outside support to get both Lock/Calculate.

Maybe if you wanted to fly a really fat Lando (Nien Nunb, a toughness package of Hull/Shield/Gonk, plus Ezra Gunner and Trick Shot) you could use Leebo as a threat/distraction piece, but probably not really any good.
