"Play/Fight:" question

By BartekW, in KeyForge

Hello Archons! :)

Livia the Elder
" Reap: You may exalt Livia the Elder . If you do, each friendly creature’s fight effects and reap effects are fight/reap effects for the remainder of the turn. "
and
Thero Centurion
" Play/Fight: Capture 1 æmber."

are on board.

Livia reaps and exalt. Then Centurion reaps.

Question: If he capture 1 amber?

In another words: "Play/Fight:X" = "Play:X" and "Fight:X" OR "Play:", "Fight:" and "Play/Fight:" are three different things...

My personal ruling is yes. If the answer was no, then Livia would have almost no good targets.

I don't think the rulebook is clear enough to make a definitive ruling

I agree with Revert on the ruling part at least. If Livia the Elder is exalted through their reap ability, then yes Thero Centurion's ability would now be "Play/Fight/Reap: Capture 1 aember" for the remainder of the turn.

I think creatures say "Play/Fight" so that they don't have to double up on text and make it longer than it needs to be. Otherwise the card would read:

Thero Centurion

Play: Capture 1 aember

Fight: Capture 1 aember

I get it there are people that would be happier if that is how they did the card. I think Play/Fight suffices. Everyone's different. *shrug*
