Scum List What Else is Needed?

By Cav Scout, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have had some moderate success with the following list but I was wondering what I could do to take it to the next level.

Torkil Mux with Perceptive Copilot, Engine Upgrade, Hull Upgrade, and Moldy Crow (71)

Torani Kulda with Contraband Cybernetics and Crack Shot (51)

Black Sun Ace with Contraband Cybernetics and Crack Shot (43)

Laetin A'shera with Crack Shot (31)

That seems like A LOT in Torkil Mux. One strength of Moldy Crow is that you've got a stack of Focus tokens, meaning Perceptive Copilot might not be the best investment. Engine is cheap, but I'm not sure if it's needed. Hull probably isn't terrible, but I'd still put it on the chopping block.

I've heard good things about Snap Shot on Torani Kulda. Triggering her ability in the activation phase can be nasty, since folks might not have their tokens yet. Also, with Torani handy, perhaps it's worth taking Captain Jostero over a Black Sun Ace. With Jostero in the list, maybe also it's worth it to bring a bomb, as another chance to trigger his ability.

I guess I'm, in some ways, directing you essentially towards Niklas God-Nilsson's top 16 worlds list:

  • Torani Kulda + Snap Shot + R5-P8
  • Torkil Mux + Proton Bombs + Moldy Crow
  • Cartel Marauder
  • Captain Jostero

Points have actually gone up by 1 for the list, so there'd need to be a cut.

R5-P8 could be skipped (but does seem nice, and would be an easy replacement in your own list), or maybe reduce Proton Bomb to a seismic charge.

Keeping Laetin A'shera rather than taking a Cartel Marauder seems OK, since that'd keep the flavor of your original list, even though 3-dice attacks are nice. I'd be sure to bring a cannon, though. Autoblasters is cheap (and replaces Crack Shot, probably) as a bullseye tool, and Ion Cannon is 3-dice. I guess another thought would be to switch Laetin for Genesis Red, and bring a Tractor Beam. Maybe you move someone into Torani Kulda's bullseye, as well as reduce their agility, so that the rest of your attacks land that much harder. Giving up a 2-dice attack to get three 3-dice attacks at reduced agility is often going to be worthwhile.
