First Order Elite

By Sasajak, in X-Wing Epic Play

Another bout of my crazy rule interpretation. First Order Elite states:

“Your wingmates must be 2 or 3 TIE/fo Fighters or TIE/sf Fighters.”

Does that mean that the wingmates can be a mix of TIE/fo or TIE/sf fighters? If I can take one or the other should it be worded “Your wingmates must be either 2 or 3 TIE/fo Fighters or 2 or 3 TIE/sf Fighters.”? I mean the first time I’m taking it I’m sticking with one ship type but I just had this thought.

I read it as FOs *or* SFs, not FOs *and* SFs.

Huh. That's a good question.

I would think either one or the other, but hey, I have been wrong before.

ive always thought it was one or the other, but youre right, RAW it should be both. id imagine they would specify 2 or 3 FO OR 2 or 3 SF if not.

they may have been intending one or the other, i dont know. but thats not whats written.

I think the fact that we've all assumed "one or the other" is worth noting. Only upon deeper reflection did we realize that maybe that's not what it means. To me, this is the kind of stuff that slips through play testing because everybody working on it knows what is intended, so nobody questions the wording.

(I still believe this is what happened with Targeting Battery, but they decided not to errata the card, grumble grumble.)

Help me again with the problem on that one?

Previously FFG have been very clear and specific about this e.g. on 1e Docking Clamps, which is what got me thinking.

Targeting Battery have a range of 2-5 but you can only acquire locks at your normal range/range allowed by abilities or upgrades

Aaaah right!
