I want to create this thread to hear what campaign settings (Homesteads/Capital Investments) you guys can come up with. The format is going to be what it is, followed by a description. Everyone already knows the 'We own a spaceship' setting, but what other unique and clever settings can we come up with. The Order 66 podcast gave me this idea during their homesteads episode (Episode 119 https://podbay.fm/podcast/276381727/e/1548605820 ). I listed some of their ideas below to kick-start the conversation.
Pawn Shop : Players have to determine if what someone is trying to sell is worth it, or if it is stolen. Conveniently they have a supply of gear and weapons should the need to go on a side mission.
Used Speeder Lot : Similar to the Pawn Shop, you have to wonder if that Firespray is actually owned by the seller and hope that a bounty hunter in Mandalorian armor doesn't show up to claim it's his. Also, if you decide to take that space Cadillac joyriding, maybe you miss out on a sale due to it not being in the lot.
Bar : Don't you just love it when the tax man/local health inspector drop by on your only slightly above board restaurant. Better hope he doesn't realize this is a front for an Alliance smuggling ring.
Refinery : Players get unscrupulous types showing up in old YT freighters asking them to refine some stuff of dubious provenance. Make the place mobile and you can pull up stakes for a new system every few sessions to mix it up.
Hotel : Unscrupulous types coming and going, 'oh shoot they checked out but left a body behind', 'hmm I wonder if we can use this as an Alliance safehouse?'
