How bad is this 4 Jedi list?

By j_man_04, in X-Wing Squad Lists

A few notes: I know CLT isn’t great, but it’s cheap and only thing the Jedi have for HS. Predictive Shot, also not great, but may work well with the two die attack vs high agility ships. Since the generics don’t have but one Force, this is mainly about giving them options to use it, not to try and take advantage of all the ways to spend Force. Hopefully Ashoka and Obi can help them use force abilities and still have focus tokens for CLT.

This is a un-tested experiment so open to other 4-Jedi thoughts/ideas.

Hyperspace:

(48) Obi-Wan Kenobi [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(9) R2 Astromech
(4) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(1) Predictive Shot
Points: 62

(44) Ahsoka Tano [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(2) R4 Astromech
(2) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(6) Battle Meditation
Points: 54

(37) Jedi Knight [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(2) R4 Astromech
(2) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(1) Predictive Shot
Points: 42

(37) Jedi Knight [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(2) R4 Astromech
(2) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(1) Predictive Shot
Points: 42

Total points: 200

Specifically 4 Jedi in Hyperspace, eh? That's a neat little challenge. What about this?

Obi, Plo, Lumi, and Ahsoka can all fit with CLT. Obi and Plo should actually be at their peak functionality, though you could give one of them R4-P17 to fix up the action economy if you wanted, while Lumi and Ahsoka are not at their best without CLT, but can certainly do work, even if only supporting

Yeah, this started out as me wanting to run Battle Meditation Ashoka with two Knights. But realized Obi could fit with what was left over.

Plo has been labeled as an option to pull the disarm from Ani/Obi, but even still there’s a lot to him supporting Obi with an extra focus from time to time. Your list has more force on the table which is helpful on its own.

Thought either the OP is joking, rhetorical or trolling, but maybe not?!?

Any list with Obi is solid, and with other Jedi is very, very good. I got nothing as far as assistance in build details, but when you have Jedi, especially high PS, they’re gonna do real work if you practice; trust me, I’ve flown against it. Ugggg 😝

...have fun mate; now where’s that tea?

Definitely not trolling. This fits more in the rhetorical realm, and me watching a lot of Clone Wars and wanting to get Ashoka on the table. **and desperately trying to figure out what to do in HS since all my favorite things got taken.

Tbh, Plo is mostly there for the I5. If his ability becomes useful at any point, that's just a nice bonus

I think the Battle Meditation theory is sound and I use it myself on Obi with Arcs.

However I believe Predictive Shot is hot garbage so I'd dump it for the bid or drop the R4s too and go shopping for something like R4-P17 as suggested above.

While i understand you wanna play Ahsoka, i think that the jedi with CLT already have very good action economy, so i think i would just try to maximize the initiative of the ships you take so you can get the most of CLT/fine-tuned controls. So i think maybe taking Obi, Plo, Lumi and maybe even Bariss (for once!) might be a good idea, and keep the rest for bid (except maybe r4p17 on obi like @Greebwahn suggested).

Predictive Shot probably isn't worth trying for as a strategy. It isn't super impactful, pretty much requiring Bullseye/Focus, and not allowing the Jedi to use the force to reposition. I don't think a Battle Meditation plan necessarily covers those weaknesses.

If the goal wasn't specifically to bring Ahsoka, you could cut the fairly-low-impact R4 Astromechs and Predictive Shot, and switch her for Plo (keeping Battle Meditation). Having an init-5 double coordinate handy, plus Obi, plus two Jedi, seems OK.

If I wanted specifically an Ahsoka Hyperspace list, I think I'd go with this:

  • Ahsoka (Heightened Perception, R5 Astromech, CLT) 53
  • Obi-Wan (R5 Astromech, CLT) 56
  • Squad Seven Veteran (Dedicated) 45
  • Squad Seven Veteran (Dedicated) 45

So, notes from you all:

  • While I started this list with Ashoka, I’m not 100% set on keeping her.
  • Predictive Shot, not worth bringing.
  • Plo should be added for initiative and/or as a better Battle Meditation carrier.
  • May experiment with different astros

Based on the above, I think I’ll see where this gets me:

(44) Plo Koon [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(4) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(10) Battle Meditation
Points: 58

(48) Obi-Wan Kenobi [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(9) R2 Astromech ( Or R4P-17, haven’t decided)
(4) Calibrated Laser Targeting
(1) Predictive Shot
Points: 62

(37) Jedi Knight [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(2) Calibrated Laser Targeting
Points: 39

(37) Jedi Knight [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(2) Calibrated Laser Targeting
Points: 39

Total points: 198 (Less with R4P)

Final tweak... Battle Meditation takes your action so I'd put it on the Jedi with the most Force.

The way I run it, Obi-wan procs BM then Plo who's hung back out of firing range passes him a Focus.

Ah, okay yeah this makes a lot of sense. And pretty thematic with him being a general in a lot of space battles to be the one coordinating the action.

See, I kinda want to do it the other way around. I think Obi-Wan is my most valuable pilot, so I don't want to be spending his actions on Battle Meditation. I want him independent and not tied down to anything. I want him in the fight, moving freely, trying to leverage his Init 5 to kill stuff.

If you're comfortable with Plo spending a force and having no green tokens, just Battle Meditation with him. End result for Plo is the same, but now Obi saves a force, since you're only doing BM and not BM+Plo's ability.

I mean, to each their own. But I genuinely think it'd be better to have one support Jedi and one Jedi being an active combatant, rather than two support Jedi where you're trying to use one support Jedi to help the other support Jedi.

Yes it's horses for courses I suppose. Plo will burn down fast though with only one Force and no actions beyond BM. Add one Fine Tuned Controls as well and he's naked.

I literally shudder to think what Plo Koon looks like naked :).

does it need to be HS legal or can it be Extended ?

Hyperspace otherwise there would be at least two Delta 7B’s on the table 😂
