Scummy thoughts....

I’m new to listbuilding at any depth in 2.0 save playing my First Order and a bit of Resistance (T-70s and A-Wings only).

I’m seriously thinking of adding a Firespray and some Fang fighters (say four) to my 2.0 attempts at our lovely game.

So Scum experts, give me some options beyond the obvious Boba/Fenn?

4 Fearless Skull Squadron Pilots is a list, so is Fenn Rau + 3 Zealous Recruits(or two and a Skull)... You can also fly two of them with Boba as an intermediate between the two lists.

If you're willing to expand further, or in other directions I can give you more advice, depending on wether you're open to getting a conversion kit, or only 2.0 releases. To start with though, a mining guild TIE is a good investment, great filler ship, especially Seevor, but also the generic mining guild surveyors.

There's a wealth to do with Fangs and Firesprays. @Cerebrawl above gets at a lot of great options.

For some more offbeat options with Fangs and Firesprays at the core:

  • I've had fun with Fenn Rau + Ion M3-A Scyks. Either four, or three with Autoblasters Sunny. That said, I don't necessarily recommend going out and buying 4 Scyks.
    • Ion Control is better than it looks, if the squad still has damage. Fenn is a heck of a hammer. However, it's certainly more of a funsies list that won't make you hate your life, rather than top-tables-large-tournaments.
  • It's unfortunately extended now, But I've enjoyed triple Fang aces. I've typically gone Outmanever Fenn, Fearless Old Terroch, and Elusive Kad Solus. I think there's a fun toolbox to it, but it probably isn't more than mid-tier.
  • It just struck me that, with the new points, you can do Kath Scarlet with 3 Zealous Recruits. Seems like probably as good of a Kath list as will exist (flying too many cheap generics runs into the problem that... cheap generics are probably not great, and Kath might not actually be the best ship to build around). I think it'd be a lot of fun, though.
  • Boba + Koshka or Boba + Eamon are decent enough squads.
  • I've thought about going Fenn + 2 generic Firesprays, and there's more point wiggle room now.
  • While Boba is clearly the best Firespray, Koshka Frost is similar but cheaper, and would enable Koshka + 2 Fang lists which run bigger Fangs. She can easily bring 0-0-0, and pair with Fenn and a Skull, with a few points for talents.

Krassis Trelix with an Ion Cannon provides some decent control to help you leverage Fenn and Old T, both of which can have Predator!

Good thoughts. Most of these are on my HS radar at the mo.

I was very interested in Kath plus 3 Recruits, but with only 5(?)pt spare for upgrades, remain a bit unconvinced it can go beyond funsies. An occasional extra die with nothing much to back it up feels like a lopsided investment.

Kinda pondering her with 3 Blaster Scyks and a Squad Ldr Mining TIE. I might be well off track with that though :D

2 Bounty Hunters does leave a very interesting space to fit a 3rd, and maybe even 4th, ship in... unfortunately not 2 Recruits. But Fenn seems like a great option.

Generic Fangs are good ships with pretty much anything, but I am thinking they may want an ace in the hole.

I haven’t got them in hand, it’s a process obviously to find ‘em and get ‘em (I think Fangs will be harder to find than Patrol Craft), but I like the ideas. My first is a 99.5% steal from @Greebwahn

Both 1.0 and 2.0 fangs are pretty easy to come by, new in box at least. You know your local second hand market better than I do.

If you're open to 1.0 ships that aren't released in 2.0 yet(conversion kit required), then the two most obvious "must have" ships for scum is a Mist Hunter(G1A), and a Kihraxz fighter(3 is better, but even just 1 is very helpful). These aren't hyperspace legal, but you'll open up a world of list building options for extended.

As a sidenote: just buying 4 fangs and a firespray you'll save money buying 1.0 versions off ebay and a conversion kit, compared to buying the 2.0 versions directly.

In 1.0, she was an absolute blast; wholesome, but a blast. Best pint games had her and Bossk with the title: Major funnzies.

Her pilot ability isn’t quite as good to allow her to work cheaply with some Fangs, I don’t think....

Pretty much. Fenn >> Kath, without question.

Kath still seems like fun, though.

Kath is thematics over function. It's a fun idea that just doesn't hold up in practice.

My boy disintegrated my Kath, 3 Blaster Scyk and SL MTG list this afternoon with the 4 Skull... They suit him very much though and he really caught me out. Good old Fangs :D

Definitely a fun list though, the Kath nonsense, felt like it could maybe do a thing or 2.
