Please help clarify cover and Vehicles. I was always told they don’t get cover... but over time I say they do based on rules. Can some one please explain any difference from trooper unit to vehicles and cove? So I can explain to our local group. Thanks!
Quick question about cover
According to the RRG:
"As a general rule, terrain that blocks
line of sight to half or more of a mini placed directly behind it can provide cover to that mini, while terrain that blocks less than half of a mini does not. These terrain determinations should be made before the game; while playing the game, cover is resolved according to the rules on page 8."
Vehicles are minis, so of course vehicles would get cover, IF you have terrain that blocks more than half of the mini's height.
So the AT-ST would obtain cover by a building that is more than half its height. There's nothing that outright says vehicles cannot receive cover.

It’s more that very few terrain pieces in use would actually qualify to provide that cover.

Right, but that's not what his players seem to be arguing. It sounds like people are claiming vehicles just flat out don't get cover, which is not inherently true

Agreed, I was commenting on the possible origin of that misconception.
