Knock-down (..but how to keep them down?)

By Gregorius21778, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Greetings, brethern.

As the rules on p.190 state, a "Knock-Down" is a half action of the "attack" type. Which means "no other attack actions this round".

No matter is "the Knocker" has the higher Initiative or not, the "Knocked One" can simply use his next half action to stand up (p.192).

So, besides the possibility to inflict damage and fatigue, what good is this action? As far as I can see it, it only makes sense in a 2-on-1 situation where one person of the "team" knocks the single opponent down while the other one follows up as the target is down.

This leave a shale feeling with me, since I would suspect that "once down" it is not this easy to get up. Even in a one-on-one situation, I would assume that you can not get up this easy ones you are down... unless your opponent is a "sportsman" and allows you to.

Greetings
Gregorius

You can't preform the same half action twice. You can, however, preform two different half actions of the attack sub-type (or any same sub-type) else Feint would also be next to useless if you couldn't immediately fallow it up with a Standard Attack. You can also stand and move (two different Move actions) as well as drawing a weapon and aiming it (two miscellaneous actions).

Edit: so, to answer your question, what good is knock down? You'll get some nice bonuses to stomp the fella with your standard attack that you'll preform on him with your next half action ;-)

I like stun more... the same fatigue and as he is stunned he is not engaged in melee (I dunno how much of a houserule this is or if it is raw) and your temmates can shoot your enemy to pieces easily but it is more difficult against tough targets and it works for multiple rounds if you're lucky and you don't need to feint anymore

but how to make a tackled enemy stay down? grapple!
of course grapple is a full action and he can stand up before it's your turn again....
use delay wait after he made his turn then use takedown+grapple

or you create some houserules that allow you to takedown and grapple in the same turn

Ahhhhhhhhh... I see. Thanks (again), Graver. Somehow I should try to get a nice female assistant with a degree in "pointology of obivounismen". Or perhaps some parrot which reminds to "READ CAREFUL! READ CAREFUL!" happy.gif
