Raddus vs Raddus matchup - advice needed!

By flatpackhamster, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I am playing a game tomorrow night, 500pts - and we're both running Raddus fleets. I don't play rebels very often because my opponent loves playing the rebels and shooting Imperials. So here's my fleet:

Name: Fleet 35 - 1
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Admiral Raddus

Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:

MC80 Star Cruiser (96)
• Admiral Raddus (26)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Weapons Battery Techs (5)
• Engine Techs (8)
• Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 161 Points

MC80 Assault Cruiser (114)
• Expert Shield Tech (5)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Reinforced Blast Doors (5)
• Leading Shots (4)
• Quad Battery Turrets (5)
• Defiance (5)
= 145 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Ahsoka Tano (2)
• Comms Net (2)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 24 Points

Pelta Command Ship (60)
• Hondo Ohnaka (2)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Boosted Comms (4)
= 72 Points

Squadrons:
• Biggs Darklighter (19)
• Jan Ors (19)
• 4 x X-wing Squadron (52)
= 90 Points

Total Points: 492

My opponent is running MC80 Battle Cruiser (Mon Karren with Intel Officer, Spinals, QBT) and his Raddus Drop is Profundity with ACM and Expanded Launchers (and a Boarding Troopers Garel's Honour Hammerhead payload). He has Dash Rendar, 3 x YT2400, Rogue Squadron and Shara Bey for his squads.

Any tactical advice is very welcome!

I would think about dropping the Star Cruiser from Defiance; the LMC80 has speed going for it, but Defiance can play pretty coy with those side arcs. If they try to block you, they get a Liberty to the face.

You probably want second player, because second player gets to decide if they're going to drop after first player, gets to actually drop after first player has dropped everything, and actually gets to activate their Raddus drop first. First player does get the advantage somewhat in the following rounds, but by then they should have inferior positioning.

Walex is a good answer to that Boarding Trooper Hammerhead (or just to getting shot a bunch.) You have too much value out of the redirect to need EST unless you think you're getting bombed.

Most Wanted is good, Surprise attack is solid, Contested Outpost is reasonable, Hyperspace Migration is great.

I managed to pull off a win. We both deployed our large-bases at the beginning of turn 3. I had laid out my fighters carefully the turn before and took the best position for my MC80, forcing my opponent to deploy his MC75 suboptimally.

Didn't matter for him, because he rolled spectacularly, with 9 out of his 10 dice coming up crits without a reroll and not a single blank on any of his red dice. My MC80 was vapourised the turn it deployed.

However due to his suboptimal positioning he spent 2 turns ramming his own ships, lost Profundity and Garel's Honour to my Liberty, and my squadrons did a number on his rogues. Jan Ors/Biggs combo with 4 X-Wings is very good indeed. At the end I still had 4 of my 6 squadrons although they were all on 1 health.
