This has been a long-time dream of mine. I want to see this on the table so badly!

Speculation along these lines has me strongly considering picking up a third bomber. Yikes. My poor wallet.

I just did the same thing only for this. Man, I'm so stupid. I'll tell you how it performed after I got it on the table.

In the meantime, any ideas about the list? I've never flown bombers before. :D

I've flown Cat once. That's it. It seems to me that the loadout for the bombers should be tailored to that's pilot abilities. Otherwise you might as well make them all generics and use the saved points to upgrade other ships.

That said, I'm not sure how each bomber likes to be kitted out. For example, Finch Dallow can place a bomb in the play area touching him, so maybe he doesn't even need Trajectory Simulator, instead focusing on mines. Then Cat could fly behind him and to the side to get extra dice from shooting ships at range 1 of friendly device. Then the third bomber could focus on lobbing Proton Bombs with Trajectory Simulator.

If you want to leave the loadout as-is, you save 24 points if you drop them all to generics (using the new points). I don't know if that gets you anything good, though.

Just wanted to chime in and say I keep thinking about this squad, but I'm not sure what to change, and I haven't sat down to make my own version.

My idea is to basically slow-roll and launch bombs so the enemy needs to engage. I'm mostly with the Aces for the initative, tbh. And regarding loadout, there aren't that many different bombs and mines to choose from...But I'll play around with it more. Like this?

Ooh, I like where you're going, but I'm not sold on A-wings in the wing. They won't be able to rotate turrets when they fly by because it's not a wingmate-eligibe action. You could save 2 points by dropping Veteran Wing Leader off of L'ulo. But I suppose they could just drop out of the wing after the first pass.

That's a good point. Not entirely convinced of this, but....

Okay, this actually gets me kind of excited because it's something I've been pondering. Usually we read how people are bound and determined to break up your wing, and there are a lot of reasons you want to keep it together. But if you have plenty of ships, are there situations where you want to voluntarily break off one of your fighters?

Having 6 T-70s certainly presents such an opportunity. If your opponent gross up their forces, you can line up the bombers to launch bombs at them while your X-wings flank together, keeping all guns on target to destroy the enemy ships one by one.

But if the enemy deploys spread out, you can split 2 or 3 X-wings to either cover an objective, or to keep a flanking ace honest.

Lastly, if you see that an overlap with your wing is inevitable, you can split a couple fighters off in the end phase, and dish in maneuvers that will prevent a pileup and let more if you're did have actions. In fact, if you anticipate they will go in for a block, splitting all but the back center ship could make them really second guess their approach to the next planning phase. T-70s are great because after splitting they can body or barrel roll. To get where that need to be.

I also thought about building them as two wings of three T70. Not sure what's better.

Here's my take on Resistance Bombers.

Eh, I probably should give Poe an R4 Astromech, but I like the theme. Anyway, Finch Dallow takes point to get up in their grill and drop bombs on their face. He can drop a Conner Net in front of a wing leader so that he activates, flies over it, becomes ionized, then the wingmates perform a 2-straight and get stressed because that aren't part of the wing any more.

Meanwhile Cat and Ben Teene are lobbing Proton Bombs with Trajectory Simulator, and Delayed Fuses let's Cat reroll an attack die, which also increases the opportunity for Ben Teene to trigger Rattled. They use the Pattern Analyzers to stay out of range of their own blasts...although I guess with Delayed Fuses they'd get hit anyway. Hmm. Oh, and Finch Dallow's Ablative Plating lets him ignore a damage from two of those bombs.

A-wings do A-wing things. I like Tallis for trying to protect the bombers. She'll probably work about as well as she does in the movie. Zizi just looks good.

Yeah, so I have a few things to work out still, but I think it's a good first attempt. I should probably proxy bombers a couple of times before actually buying more. The approach will be critical and I don't have that part figured out yet.

I just bought a 3rd B/SF-17 on sale at Miniature Market today, so I can do this thing!!

Me too. God, this is so dumb. ^^

I tried the variant with the 6 X-Wings today. It's silly, and I managed to eke out a slim win, but I don't really see me repeating this. The 6-T70-wing is unwieldy, and the bombers underperformed badly and managed to shoot the enemy CR90 with their main armament only by the nick of their teeth. Part of this may be that I suck with bombers, though ^^

Ah, dangit. I just looked at the sale and now I'm tempted. I want another bomber, but also Saw's Renegades and two IG-2000 expansions, which I don't have yet. Sigh. I probably won't actually pull the trigger, but I will definitely be thinking about it.

It looks cool on the board that's for sure.

Man,

I'm trying so hard to not buy a third bomber and this isn't helping...

Looks very, very cool.
