Fat Dash & Thane

By Minimono, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Dash Thane

(91) Dash Rendar [YT-2400 Light Freighter]
(8) Magva Yarro
(26) Luke Skywalker
(6) Shield Upgrade
(4) Trick Shot
(14) Outrider
Points: 149

(48) Thane Kyrell [T-65 X-wing]
Points: 48

Total points: 197

Good against ACE list I guess. But it is a very expensive Dash.

Try to kite as much possible with Dash. Keep Thane safe’ish. He is the one to sacrifice, but the longer he is alive, the better. I have no Experience with Dash, so let me know if this just madness, or something that might be able to do stuff.

Could work, I came up with something similar once, never flew it. I didn't use luke, and had more stuff on Thane. I don't think it's going to have a lot of Ace targets. The points change makes me want to run a lot of beef.

Never really thought about putting Magva on Dash. That could be good for double mods.

I'm not a huge fan of Luke on this platform as it should be pretty easy to keep targets in arc for Dash being PS5 and wanting to keep distance anyway. Have always brought Bistan for the two shots ability paired with Perceptive Copilot to have double focus. Then Dash can make two 4- (or 5 through a rock) dice shots.

Thane is cool but really with the points saved from Luke you can easily get Wedge in and he's just a much bigger threat for your opponent to deal with.

Had some games flying Dash and Fenn be4 new points - now it allows Kanan to join as crew member :

Dashing Fenn

(91) Dash Rendar [YT-2400 Light Freighter]
(8) Perceptive Copilot
(14) Bistan
(2) Contraband Cybernetics
(4) Expert Handling
(14) Outrider
Points: 133

(50) Fenn Rau [Sheathipede-class Shuttle]
(12) Kanan Jarrus
(5) Hull Upgrade
Points: 67

Total points: 200

Btw. ExH is waaaay better and more needed than TS. U just need to stay unstressed on Dash and white b-roll is more valuable than 1+ occasional red dice.

One can also swap CC for R4 on Fenn to make him loose stress more easier.

Just need to remember that this only one ship doing dmg 😭

I've had a bunch of fun with this core of a squad:

  • Luke Skywalker (R2-D2) 80
  • Dash Rendar (Lone Wolf, Kanan Jarrus, Bistan) 122
  • There's 8 points for bid or extra upgrades or such...
    • Shield Upgrade on Dash would probably be nice. Increase his threshold, as well as just an extra health to live.
    • Rigged Cargo Chute is cool. Add more debris to the field, to block lanes and such.
    • Spare Parts Canister isn't bad on Luke, but Luke is also probably fine with just R2-D2.
    • Maybe Deadman Switch is worth taking on Dash. Since most opponents would rather be Range 1 than anywhere else, punishing folks for hurting Dash might be worth it.

Luke is tanky enough to take care of himself, is pretty good at running if he has to, and he can hit decently hard if left alone.

  • Dash, IMHO, more than anything, needs access to his barrel roll. It's far too easy to get caught in a bad spot without it. More than any other defensive upgrade, a means to use his barrel roll on demand probably does more than anything to keep Dash alive. So I think any good build will need a way to deal with the stress.
    • The three main options are Expert Handling, Kanan Jarrus, and Outrider.
      • I like Kanan Jarrus , since he's force mods when you don't need to clear stress, and it opens the talent slot for Lone Wolf . This Dash will have passive rerolls and passive focus-type mods. That seems like a good start.
      • Expert Handling certainly is miles above Trick Shot, given the nerfs and buffs each have received. However, I just think I'd rather have Lone Wolf and Kanan.
      • I don't trust Outrider for reliable stress relief; it seems far too easy for there to be no obstacles in the places you need them.
        • Looking above, I see Contraband Cybernetics. I think that's a great idea, particularly with an Outrider build. Potentially going to double-stress is scary, but it provides cover for turns when Outrider isn't enough.
  • Bistan --even with only a single focus token--provides a way to get extra damage out of Dash. Two attacks can be really strong. It's a bit high-rolly without access to extra locks or second focus tokens, but you've got a LW charge, a force, and a focus token, so you aren't completely mod starved.
    • Even with Bistan, you shouldn't be afraid to barrel roll out of a bad position.

I've been playing around with this dash Idea for a while

Dash Rendar (91)
Trick Shot (4)
K-2SO (8)
Outrider (14)

Ship total: 117 Half Points: 59 Threshold: 5

Jan Ors (41)
Nien Nunb (5)
Hull Upgrade (5)
Shield Upgrade (6)
Moldy Crow (18)

Ship total: 75 Half Points: 38 Threshold: 4

Total: 192

Dash could have trick shot for an insane 6 dice attack, but expert handling is a good on him as well

K-2SO is pritty much a free cheap force per round as long as you perform a blue maneuver or pass through an obstacle and frees dash up for a lock if being aggressive and a focus for extra defense

Jan Ors makes every one of Dashes attacks amazing and she's pretty affective as well

With nien Nunb she's much more maneuverable but I would consider jyn as it can make her very defensive but predictable

Swapping out hull or sheild upgrade for a engine upgrade is also a good idea to make her more maneuverable

A lot of good ideas here. And I am not Shure what to choose. Just a new idea here since K-2SO is soon available.

New Squadron

(91) Dash Rendar [YT-2400 Light Freighter]
(8) Perceptive Copilot
(14) Bistan
(4) Expert Handling
Points: 117

(32) AP-5 [Sheathipede-class Shuttle]
Points: 32

(46) K-2SO [UT-60D U-wing]
(4) Hera Syndulla
Points: 50

Total points: 199

main thing: having two coordinating ships, is making Dash less predictable, since he now have a vider area two move about if he needs a coordinate., if he needs to turn his turret. (And loose a chance for two modded shots)

K2SO seem like a pilot that both can shoot and if needed coordinate and still have a calculate for himself. And with Hera, he can do that sweet full stop move often.

Or just this one:

New Squadron

(91) Dash Rendar [YT-2400 Light Freighter]
(8) Perceptive Copilot
(14) Bistan
Points: 113

(79) Lando Calrissian [Modified YT-1300 Light Freighter]
(5) Nien Nunb
(3) Millennium Falcon
Points: 87

Total points: 200

Lando can give that occasional need for an extra action for Dash if he needs to turn his turrets.

I tried a variant of this: Dash and Jan.
i do find Jan a little to slow for Dash. But my Experience is very limited. I did not have nien on her, so that might be why she was making Dash predictable
