Is Vonreg Overcosted?

I will say that the comparison to L’ulo is pretty eye-opening.

Regardless, he has more positional flexibility and (crucially) I6 is a very, very potent asset; strain doesn’t matter if you’re not getting shot, and Vonreg can opt out of it more easily anyway.

I doubt the I3 generics will are any use though.

You forgot the "I haven't even had a chance to own this expansion to be able to answer the question " option.

they're both ?!?!
correctly costed?!?!?!

Just a thought?!

:P

To be fair, we know everything we need to know to play the ship. I was even able to test it yesterday in actual games. Ship is fine at high I because the ability synergize so well with perfect information. The I3 is the only one I might be struggling to play.

Because a react sometimes just isn't enough.

His vanilla cost is that of Predator Soontir or Whisper and 1 pt more than Old Terry. Add in Daredevil and he is the exact cost as Fanatical Fire Control Gunner Quickdraw. Toss in more points for Deuterium and he's the cost of a vanilla Poe.

Are the 17% straight up jousting with him?

RRRrrrrrriiiiiiiiigggggghhhhhhhttttttt.

XWM 1.0 was just great cuz theorycrafting followed by playing a ship a few times always gave the exact and correct point cost, just like magic.

PDFs with adjustable points and slots are just a conspiracy to support the flagging printer paper industry.

Major Vonreg is. . . .

OVERCOSTED!!

Just want to make sure I understand the situation: there is an i6 pilot, and you're asking if it's overcosted?

Has there ever (in 2.0) been an i6 pilot that is overcosted?

Dengar? Han (Resistance)? Probably an argument could be made for bananakin too.

• Dengar

• Han (scum)

• Han (Resistance)

• Poe

• Midnight

• Y-Wing Anakin

• Rebel Fenn Rau

Worth noting: Rebel Han, Scum Fenn, Republic Anakin, and Darth Vader have all seen point reductions in the past too.

So... Yes?

Midnight has dropped in points as well.

You cannot be serious.....

I'd argue he's pretty heavily undercosted for what he brings. I was expecting him to be ~65pts, maybe low 60's if FFG wanted to aggressively push him. Having him at 57pts is just nuts, making him essentially an auto include in all FO squads IMO.

When the FOceptor drops, I'm expecting to see a lot of Vonreg + Holo + Kylo lists, and vassal hasn't been disappointing.

In our group I play mainly Empire, Scum and FO. I put Vonreg at 58. He will hover between 56-60 IMO. His ability isn’t great and is easily countered, to double position he needs to hit less or be hit easier. He does have the advantage of being almost stress free to do what ever move he wants most the time. But his 4 health will be telling.

It's impossible to say at this point. Very few will have gotten any serious play time with the ship, and you have to look at the fighter in the context of the entire faction, not in isolation.

That said; for an i6 pilot, with a bullseye hunt ability which doesn't trigger in the current round, and a ship ability which has a statistical downside (even if theoretical if you fly right), I'd say he is well costed given the above caveats.

After playing one game with Vonreg, (thanks to Barnes and Noble Gift Card + Membership for free shipping. I'll always choose my LGS over B&N otherwise) my professional opinion is...

I need more games before I can establish an informed opinion. However...

He does seem about right. I6 is nice, but 4 health goes pop easy. If you lose initiative to a squad containing Vader of Fen, you had better do some fancy flying. Similarly, if you run up against 5 X-Wings, TIE swarm, or Vulture swarm, being able to initiative kill one ship isn't gonna help you if you get blocked.

Its the generics that have me baffled.

First order provocator 45pts for 3a, 3e, 2h, 2s and a good dial and reposition ability

Empire Alpha Squadron Interceptor + shield upgrade 39pts for a 3a, 3e, 3h, 1s and a good dial and reposition ability

Real hard to justify that 6 extra points. Not to mention i can just run the alpha 8pts lighter without the shield if i want.

I was really excited to run these as a pack, but **** are they expensive compared to other options that are almost the same.

Didn't you know? You're supposed to vote based on hands-off analysis alone, so your opinion doesn't become tainted by experience.

The same as when the question is asked of Soontir:

In the hands of a skilled Ace Interceptor player: Absolutely, he's crazy cheap!! Are you &%$#ing kidding me??

In the hands of the other 99% of players: Well? "POP" ....um, no.

...now where's that late afternoon tea?

In at least one game, my Soontir tanked more hits than my Defender, but I'm reasonably confident that was just luck.

After one shot-ing Fenn turn three and keeping them flanking with my fully loaded deci -thinking I was pretty good with Imp Aces after months of practice- I got my full health/full token stack Soontir out of two R1 arcs next turn and only left my opponent a range three thru an asteroid.... ‘hit, hit, crit’ ....no problem, five dice, focus/evade. ALL BLANKS. Major Explosion: bye bye Soontir.
