Imperial Hyperspace List with Reaper

By Jayne Starlancer, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Asking for comments on this list. The striker and the reaper are new to me, so I need help and practice flying them. I want to keep these four ships, but I am open to suggestions for pilots and upgrades and tactics.

Ruthless Officer

(45) Maarek Stele [TIE Advanced x1]
(2) Fire-Control System
(1) Ruthless
Points: 48

(44) Ved Foslo [TIE Advanced x1]
(2) Fire-Control System
(1) Ruthless
Points: 47

(49) Major Vermeil [TIE Reaper]
(6) Tactical Officer
(3) Hull Upgrade
Points: 58

(44) "Pure Sabacc" [TIE/sk Striker]
(3) Seismic Charges
Points: 47

Total points: 200

The only glaring change is the Tac Officer IMO. Vermeil always wants his focus token so he can get to 3-4 hits with his ability. You could use the new Mag Pulse Warheads coming in Vonreg's TIE on Maarek for the same points to set it up.

And with the amount of health on your ships Ruthless could be problematic.

So either leave a 2 point bid or find something cheap for someone but I can't think of what would be good...

I would swap the tactical officer for shield upgrade on Sabaac.

I just think the shield is so useful there...

Shield upgrade isnt HS legal.

Wow really! 😮

They did went far with hyperspace, even the most basic stuff. Interesting.

What about hull upgrade?

Not for Sabacc, but is it HS legal?

Yes HU is legal.

as to the OP. The Reaper actually wants it’s red coordinate action. It allows it to slow down just a bit which can help it stay closer to a formation or not overshoot an enemy ship and find itself in an awkward position.

Ruthless wants sacrificial lambs and your list currently does not have those.

the seismic charges on Sabbac feel like a wasted points sink. Opponents aren’t going to let a squirrelly 4 attack dice ship run around, and the bombs make him an even bigger threat adding to their want to bring him down quickly.

I might personally recommend Krennic on Vermeil and use Maarek as the prototype to draw hate away from Sabbac. This also allows Maarek or Ved to work with Missiles if you wanted to do so. Creating targeting priority issues is what you are really going to want this list to do.

I did a similar list but with a few changes (havent though through the upgrades either). Thinking hask can try to cover Vermeil from r1 attacks (the +1 red on snapshot might be nice), Vader for the pewpew and endgame. Countdown for flanking/baiting.

Major Vermeil (49)
Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 4

"Countdown" (44)
Ship total: 44 Half Points: 22 Threshold: 2

Gideon Hask (30)
Snap Shot (7)

Ship total: 37 Half Points: 19 Threshold: 2

Darth Vader (67)
Passive Sensors (3)

Ship total: 70 Half Points: 35 Threshold: 3

Total: 200

Thoughts on this streamlined and updated version?

Servants of the Inquisitor

(45) Maarek Stele [TIE Advanced x1]
(2) Fire-Control System
Points: 47

(44) Ved Foslo [TIE Advanced x1]
(2) Fire-Control System
Points: 46

(49) Major Vermeil [TIE Reaper]
(13) Grand Inquisitor
Points: 62

(44) "Pure Sabacc" [TIE/sk Striker]
Points: 44

Total points: 199

My ruthless Striker/Reaper list is hyperspace legal, except you have to drop Vader crew.

With the new points, you can get Death Troopers on Vermiel AND 5th Bro on Duchess, which are hyperspace, instead of Vader on Vermiel. You can also drop Countdown or Sabaac, ALL upgrades except Ruthless on those who have Talents, and get two i1 Strikers instead. Which is probably better, now that I think about it.

What are the benefits and tactics with Optimized Prototype? Maarek should be locked to benefit from Advanced Targeting Computer and his pilot ability, so I am not sure I want to spend dice results to flip damage cards. But I think I am missing something... ?

Canceling a shield to push his Crits through can be one benefit. Being able to flip a direct hit potentially is another. Since your not likely going to want to spend the Target lock if you have just a focus result take the shield or damage card and save the focus token you may have for defense.

Yhe other thing it does is makes the opponent decide who to go after a much harder choice. Do you let Vermeil and Maarek do a 1-2 on a ship and risk ripping it apart? Or try to take 1/2 of that down likely Maarek because of his Crit threat. Do they go after Sabbac and his 4 Dice attacks?

Saving focus for defense makes sense. I didn't see that but had been thinking about how to buff the TIE Adv. x1 defense.

Would Outmaneuver make sense on Pure Sabbac?

That's how I'd run it, keep everything light and hit them right in the gut. Maarek sets up Vermeil and sabaac by knocking off their token and lowering their offense while Foslo flanks.

That might require some testing to see if it fits your style and see who opponents go after both with and without it.

Your list with Grand Inquisitor is interesting especially if you’re close enough to just Jam one of them on their way out. Otherwise you can essentially just double mod that turn with a focus and evade.
