Hello All,
I know the new rules go "legal" on Jan 15th, but has FFG said when the new points/hyperspace rotation goes into effect?
Hello All,

Well, the sheets themselves only say "January update" on them so... January some time?
I think it's a reasonable guess to say they go hand in hand with the rules update, but I can't recall anything official.
I'm hoping it goes hand in hand. My vote is the 15th. Guess we will find out in a few hours
legal? as in universally legal? it should simply be stated clearly by any tournament organizers. if you're unsure, just ask them before heading to the event.
i'm going to a small tournament this saturday. they decided using the new points is a good idea.
other than that, it's normally 11 days after release of new content according to the tournament regulations. new points costs can arguably be seen as new content or products, even though it's free stuff.
Edited by meffoIf you go by the Tournament Regulations, new product is legal for use upon official release for any casual events, and 11 days after release for formal events. I would argue that the recent Points Adjustment and Rules Reference, while not physical items, would equally count as product that has been officially released. To that end, since the files went live on January 9, they would be considered "active" for formal game play as of January 20 (just in time for the upcoming Grand Championships in Las Vegas).
Even if, for example, a rules update and points adjustment had been "leaked" 5 days early, since their official release is on day X, they would go into effect as of day X+11. Similarly, even though a certain retailer, known for their (cough) "farm structures and royal rank," happened to release certain ships a little early, their official release date is January 31, and as such, will not be legal for formal events until February 11.
