Imperial Mid-Init Aces

It's a whole new world (or atleast we assume it is)!

With the reduction of generic pilots and the banning of many high intiative pilots from the hyperspace format, we expect to see a whole lot more generics and a whole lot less super high initiative aces going around (due to the excessive amount of arcs to dodge). This means that pilots with amazing abilities that were previously left in the dust due to their mediocre initiative have the perfect environment to thrive.

This is the list that i built with that idea in mind:

Our new Aces here are Ved Foslo, Pure Sabacc and Countdown.

Duchess is an awesome pilot because of how amazing it is to get a free boost after seeing the position of most, if not all enemies in the game. Obviously, Countdown and Pure Sabacc don't have as many options as Duchess, but for a couplemore points they get 2 killer abilities.

Ved Foslo is awesome as well, he basically has R2A6 on steroids stapled onto him: has 7(!) options for turn around maneuvres, gets access to 1 turns, and also can get blue 1 straight, blue 3 banks and 4 blue straights. He has awesome stats, a cool ship ability and all for a very affordable package. 10/10 would put on my list

It's just a shame that Turr Phenir also doesn't get to join the Hyperspace party, since his ability is also bonkers if he is the first to shoot, which i don't think will happen often in extended due to the big boys like Ani and Quickdraw still being there.

Snap shot is just there because i want to see it in action and i thought it would be pretty neat with the abilities of Sabacc and Hask.

I just made something similar to this because of this post.
I posted yesterday looking for help with a RAC + Vader build. People suggested that Vader was to vulnerable because of the lack of afterburners. and RAC was to heavy.

So I had already switched it alot and built something with 2 academy's Oicunn and Vader.

But your list has made me think Again

All that said I think a list like this comes down to how you fly. This definitely has teeth to it and the ability to re position a bit in a world where that comes at a premium. My one thought would be to switch snap shot out and upgrade the academy but thats personal preference as I like moving later than my opponent as much as possible and the academy could be a great blocker.

That doesn't matter as much honestly. While i was talking about this archetype in hyperspace, i could see it finding a niche in extended aswell.

But i think pakirby's list already strays a lot from the original, since it's using Vagabond and Maarek, which aren't taking too much advantage of higher initiative for positioning shenanigans.

If I built this in extended, i'd probably start here:

The only thing i don't like in this list is the lack of space for a bigger bid, but i assume that most other lists with initiative 4 or lower pilots will go all the way up to 199/200 points
