Destiny has now met its destiny, FFG has just killed the game off

By KnightHammer, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Sad news, but I'm not expecting this to impact other games. I'm not ready to panic yet, at least not until seeing at least one or two more announcements like this in the near future.

If this news would have been for x-wing or Legion I would have been really surprised... but Destiny was on life support for a while now...

Surprisingly its not shocking to me. I only knew barely a dozen folks who played it. LOADS who play X-wing, or legion though.

Early supply issues killed much of the potential player base around my location. Without product on the shelf those early players gave up and moved on.

That said, locally I'm having the same issue with X-Wing right now. Local shop can't get the new product and their orders go straight from pre-order to back-order. Distribution growing pains continue...

Trying to order any FFG products now is not something my FLGS wants to be asked to do. They obviously want to sell me stuff but the distributor is just sort of hapless. I order stuff. Release date comes along, "Is the new stuff in?" Calls distributor, "It's right here. Do you want us to ship it?" And it takes at least two calls and an extra week for the stuff to come.

That plus the increase in price to shops and extremely high shipping charges since alliance has taken over distribution has caused a lot of smaller shops to just stop carrying FFG product in general. Dark days are before us, if places that allow you to play games no longer want to carry said games then space to play tournaments will soon disappear.
