Brief analysis of Hyperspace legal 5-ship Rebel lists based on T65s

By Biophysical, in X-Wing

Rather than start a new topic, I'll just continue here. Ran this list in a small store 3-rounder yesterday:

Red Squadron Veteran (41)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Red Squadron Veteran (41)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Arvel Crynyd (34)
Intimidation (3)

Gold Squadron Veteran (32)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
R4 Astromech (2)

Blade Squadron Veteran (42)
Total: 200

A few notes:

  • Arvel with intimidation can be amazing, if you fly really well.
  • If you don't fly him really well, Arvel is a very expensive TIE Fighter.
  • Even a single ion turret is still really good and can make it very hard for Aces to dodge all arcs.
  • B-wings still take more shots to kill than many people expect.
  • Having all the same initiative makes me happier than it logically should.
  • I like the squad because there is no clear best target to shoot at. It's also pretty easy to "hide" a damaged ship and encourage your opponent to split their fire.
  • I don't like that against a pure Init 4+ squad, you are paying 5 points for initiative that will never matter.

Overall, a fun rebel "toolbox" list that has some tricks and can probably hang pretty well in hyperspace...

Plus it looks cool as $#@% with 2 X-wings, an A-wing, a Y-wing and a B-wing on the table. Let's put some Star Wars in the Star Wars people.
