Ok, i've been going mad reading through the rules ref looking for the exact sentence or paragraph where it tells you to remove a bomb/mine token from play after it 'detonates' without success. Could one of you lovely rules people dig it up and show me where it is?

that means bombs and mines aren't removed after detonating. they just stay and detonate again and again.

You would want seismic, not ion. Goji's issue with bombs is he (or his friends) have to be in blast range to get the benefit. Seismic's would, eventually, clear the board of obstacles and not effect anything.
