Getting back into Xwing

By Sirdrasco, in X-Wing

I'm getting back into Xwing after collecting to wave 7.

I'm interested in Galactic Empire and Scum and Villainy

I have the following 1st edition ships:

Scum (17 ships): 1-Slave 1, 1-Houndstooth, 2-Ywings, 2-Starvipers, 4-Z95, 3-M3 Scyk, 1-Kihrax, 1-Punishing One, 2-IG-2000,1-Hawk290

Imperials (23 ships): 2-Lamda Shuttles, 1-T-49 Decimator, 3-Tie Advance, 1-Tie Defender, 4-Tie Interceptor, 1 Phantom, 7-Ties, 1-Tie Bomber, 3-Tie Punishers

Now I've purchased a core set and the Galactic Empire conversion set, I'll pick up the S&V next month, and some of my group will help with ship tokens and dials for ships. Where do I go from here?

Honestly, I think go and build some lists and play some games of second edition. With what you have there, you can put together some fun lists. Once you have played a little in 2.0, you should have a better feel for what you like to fly and can start picking up more ships that fit your style. But if you want to get something new... :)

For Empire, maybe a Inquisitors' TIE Expansion Pack, a TIE Reaper or a TIE/sk Striker Expansion Pack.

For Scum, maybe a Lando's Millennium Falcon Expansion Pack, a Fang Fighter or a Mining Guild TIE Expansion Pack.

1. S&V kit

2. Hot shots and Aces card pack coming later this month / early Feb at the latest (some extra upgrades you’ll want plus pilots for ships you have)

3. Scum: fang fighter, Lando’s falcon; Empire: tie striker, tie v1 (advanced prototype)

Lando's Falcon is pretty but unfortunately it's kinda not that great. I have one and hardly use it. The escape craft is a sweet little filler/support ship, but even Han doesn't get used much.

I'd definitely spring for a Fang Fighter or two if you don't have any, and the Mining Guild TIE is a fantastic (and cheap ) piece for scum. For Empire it's hard to go wrong with the Inquisitor's TIE, Reaper, or Striker. More Bombers or Punishers are cool if you like devices and ordnance, but other than that I think you're good.

You'll get so much more out of your conversion kit than you expect. Be sure to pick up the card packs when they drop too.

You can also look at Epic Battles and the Huge ships for some interesting games beyond death match.

Heroes of the Aturi Cluster also just came out with a new 2nd edition.
