Barc Speeder / sidecar

By guppy235, in Star Wars: Legion

If you add a sidecar, does speeder 1 become removed. In other words, do you still have to conduct the compulsary move?

You still have speeder 1 you just decrease your speed from 3 to 2. So you still perform a compulsory move

Where does it say Speeder 1 gets removed?

Probably a misreading/misunderstanding of "Reduce your maximum speed by 1."

Aha. That seems likely. I like to understand how people misunderstand rules. Are the rules unclear? Do they lead you to make assumptions? Is the person mixing up rules from other games?

I'm looking to get this game, as my 14-year-old daughter has gotten big into Star Wars lately, and especially the Clone Wars. My local game store has a Legion Clone Wars core set on hold for me.

My question is, and I hope it's OK to "hijack" this thread a little as related to the BARC Speeder:

Do you have to permanently decide if the speeder will or will not have the sidecar? Or can you add/remove it easily for a particular game?

(I guess the same question would apply to other figures; do you have to permanently decide what weapon they will have, if they have multiple options?)

You can absolutely attach the sidecar without gluing it into place. I did that on mine.

When you open the box, you'll see how you're able to do so more clearly, but there is an A-frame piece that attaches to the speeder, or the sidecar permanently (I glued mine into the speeder). And at the bottom of the speeder, in the back, is a notch for the arm, because the sidecar can move 180-degrees while attached to the speeder, since some weapons are Fixed: Front/Rear. So the arm on my BARCs is glued into the sidecar , while the A-frames are glued into the speeder itself.

So, short answer, no! You don't have to permanently attach the sidecar to the speeder. You can definitely play it WYSIWYG

Excellent, thanks!

To expand on what @manoftomorrow010 said, for the BARC gunner/other models with multiple weapon options, the only way to make them swappable is with magnets, but it is very doable.

Is there a post somewhere that has a good demonstration on that?

I mostly ask because I'm most likely to be playing this somewhat "casually" so probably won't have the budget to invest in getting multiples that are just slightly different configurations :)

In both casual and competitive play the models aren't neccessarily WYSIWYG. For instance, Bossk has two weapon pose options. One with a grenade in hand and one without. I glued him together with the grenade but that doesnt mean I have to take his grenade card.

I don't know how useful this will be, but I found this video.

Awesome, thanks for the video! And thanks for all the responses, everyone!

Also Legion isn’t like other miniature games like Warhammer, you don’t need to have the side car on if you include it in your list. So if you decide to create the BARC model without the side car, but then want to put the side car in your list when you play the game, you still can. There is no requirement that the model have specific weapons etc, just that model is a BARC model.
