The idea is that the Defenders serve as a hammer against the anvil (the to be destroyed anvil, not a good analogy) to the enemy's huge ships. They're also holding their own in a dog fight, I'll reckon. Turr Phenir can pull his wing mates into Range 2 or Range 1, depending on where he started, and TIE Interceptors are generally good at dishing out damage and survive thanks to the Wing Leader upgrade. The Inquisitor is there to deliver the payload into a huge ship. Those should be hurt REAL bad by Deplete. And the Gozanti serves as a support craft, usually coordinating, but if necessary stripping a vital token at range 2-3.

Doh! You forgot Veteran Wing Leader again. Turr doesn't have it. Maybe drop Instinctive Aim off the Inquisitor so you can fit it in your squad.

Otherwise it looks pretty good. I usually use the extra energy from Blood Crow to power Point-Defense Battery because the title only grants an extra focus result to attacks at range 1-2 anyway. But I like what you've done turning it into a support craft.

I'm guessing Optimized Prototype goes on Rexler. Not sure about Kallus in Epic. Which ship do you plan targeting with him? Yeah, I guess there aren't a lot of good crew at that pricepoint.

****. Thanks!

Yes, Rexler.

And Kallus - on the enemy Huge Ship.

Perhaps put Jamming Beams on your defenders. They’re free and useful for stripping Reinforce tokens which is especially useful against huge ships. 😀

I don't like Point Defense on ships with so little energy...

Given that the Turr Phenir trick doesn't work (the wing doesn't follow) I decided to spend the points in more anti-huge-ship firepower instead.

They don't follow immedietly, but it does not break the wing and therefore they snap just fine into position next turn:

Quote

Q: If a wing leader (such as Turr Phennir) uses an ability to
move outside of the Activation Phase, what happens to its
wingmates?
A: Its wingmates stay in place. After the wing leader executes its next
maneuver, the wingmates return to position.

I know, but this isn't worth the 6 points premium.

I had a horrible thought... that Full Throttle wouldn’t trigger for the wingmates but I now believe it does

Full Throttle: After you fully execute a speed 3-5 maneuver, you may perform an evade action.

Epic Battles page 5: After it is placed in formation, a wingmate is treated as having fully executed the maneuver on the wing leader’s dial. This includes the speed, color, and bearing of the wing leader’s maneuver.

Now this got me thinking (a dangerous activity for me) if the wing leader doesn’t fully execute the manoeuvre but the wingmates can be placed in formation... technically they are treated are fully executing the manoeuvre and thus Full Throttle could trigger? Maybe this is a question for the rules forum or maybe it’s old news or more likely I have this wrong 😂

****, this is a good question.

You got it right. As long as the TIE Defender wingmate can be placed in formation, and the wing leader revealed a 3-, 4-, or 5-speed maneuver, the wingmate gets to perform the evade action from Full Throttle.

Niiiice!
