We are our own reason why we can't have nice things. Go us.

To be fair, they had to know that they’d be getting unprecedented traffic between the fact that it’s a ship not tickets attached to a specific date and location, the fact that even when there was a specific date attached it was a menace (worlds before the invite system), AND most all of us xwing players are either working from home or out of work on lockdown.

How anyone didn’t realize what a zoo it was going to be is a little beyond me.

Zoo is right. I imagine this is how a lot of us looked.

My sides...oh lord they hurt.

Hoo boy, now that I calmed down I wonder if we just doomed to repeat this next time they do it. Frankly I don't need another N1, I already have 4, but the chrome look is calling me a bit.

Did anyone find out the price?

Page lists it as 20 bucks.

$19.99+ shipping and applicable taxes. We didn’t see what shipping looks like because no one could add to cart

Given that I had tix for Adepticon, I'll admit I'm pretty pissed to go from a sure thing to an internet free-for-all.

FFG really needs to make these LEs less of a contest and more of a "these are only around for a little while, and it's not getting a reprint, so get it now."

I had hoped that this ship meant we were there; obviously not.

FWIW, I sincerely hope that part of their plan to make the system not crash is giving Adepticon ticket holders first crack at it. Like a password protected page or something to get you early access.

Because I agree this is kind of stupid to turn it into a full blown frenzy. I expected this for those of us who couldn’t go. Now I wonder which is more ethical: if I can get in next week buying just one for me, or buying two to make sure I can help cover someone who was going to go but couldn’t make it in. On one hand, I may deny someone a chance to buy, on the other I deny a scalper from buying to flip and I make sure that the second goes to someone who needed it.

Why aren’t these just one per customer? That would do a lot to stop the scalpers.

I’ve never been to a con before. My question is is this how sales normally go for special releases? I.e the Vulture at the last AdeptiCon

Last year at Adepticon, they did have them on sale, but all of the players that were playing that wanted one recieved a ticket to get one during breaks or whatever while there.

Good for you. You can come to the adepticon. And for me the option to buy through the site is optimal. I do not want to overpay on eBay or fly through half the world.

Don't assume that it would've been a sure thing just because you were at the convention.

I was at Spiel in Essen last year, where they had a limited Obi-wan for Legion. They had a limited amount of stock available each day, and it was being made available in their store booth at a random, unadvertised time each day, so if you weren't lucky enough to have just happened to have been in the booth (after being in a long queue) at the exact right moment, you missed out.

It was specifically stated that everyone at the convention got one (via voucher or whatever}.

That might be a solution. If they just say “Store will be open on x day at y time” then everyone will go there at that time and we’d crash their server. They could make the ship available for purchase in lots of x per day and only available at random unadvertised time windows each day to spread out the purchases.

They could also have a purchase lottery. Open for a specified, announced duration. Send out a code if you win the lottery, 3 day window to claim or somebody else gets your ship. If stock exceeds interest, they can go up on the store.

I was thinking the same thing on Friday. That would be the fairest way to do it.

I was there. Tickets were available, but they did not give them to the people playing x-wing. In fact you had to line-up at the main exhibitor entrance at the same time as the x-wing event was starting. Virtually no person playing x-wing got one of the limited edition ships. I don’t think they brought enough ships to do that.

I think they were referring to adepticon.
