Very simple list, but the abilities look like they can really mess with target priority. Dutch has the highest joust potential with a proven ability, garvin can give dutch a double modded shot or give the focus to someone who needs it. Hera is the leia carrier and wedge does his thing.

Also, they all turned out to be squadron leaders! (Garvin was Red leader in ep IV, Wedge was Red leader in ep VI, Dutch was Gold leader in ep IV, and Hera was Phoenix leader in rebels)

What do you think? Is there anything I should change or drop?

Thanks in advance!

Impressive fit!

So, I've made some changes to the original.

I swapped garvin for Thane since he's more self-sufficient and ace-y, and swapped hera for zeb with an ion turret. I figured that the attack shuttle would be too fragile to joust with the others, so zeb could strafe the engagement while still contributing to the fight

Much better!

I've certainly seen a lot worse "theme squads" than the original post. Cool list.

Leia's probably worthwhile, but Sabine Attack Shuttle is pretty cool, too.

Another option: Kullbee Sperado with R4 is the same price as Thane. Seems like a ship which can boost/focus a bunch, which is kinda nifty. Better than Thane? Worse? No clue. But it's a cute build.

Update: flew the altered version at the battle for north texas, went (4-2) and got knocked out day 2 in top 16.

Game 1.

Luke, Han, Thane.

Setup was a large asteroid field in the middle, with han center right and the x wings on the far left.

I deployed basically across from him, with thane off to the side, and moved up through the asteroid field to engage. The enemy x wings closed foils and gunned acros the board, past the asteroids, while han went slow, moving up to the asteroids.

I slow rolled it, one straight across the board.

Next turn the x wings kept gunning forward, ready to come around the rock and isolate thane. Thane stuck to his guns, since we were still too far out to engage.

After that, thane hard turns and boosts out, towards the main group, while my other ships move in on the x wings, which are now on the right, just outside the asteriod fields. Han continues rolling up, and we are still shy of engagement.

For the next few turns, the x wings come around to engage my squad, han continues moving up, and after some combat, luke is left on one hull with loose stabilizer after a direct hit, and Zeb/Wedge are halved. Luke ends up 4 straight-ing through a rock to escape my kill box, rolls a blank for the rock. Wedge and zeb bug out, and Dutch takes some damage from my opponent's other ships. Last turn of the game, I use leia, and thane turns around and focuses. Dutch comes around the rock, takes a lock on luke, and passes it to thane. Zeb keeps running, and so does wedge. Han and thane move to shoot at wedge, but thane has no shot on him and han only has R3 obstructed. Luke does a 1-straight and barrel rolls, dodging dutch's arc. Han's shot isn't enough to kill wedge, and thane uses his ability to flip luke's direct hit up again.

Win: 62- 49

Game 2.

Dengar, Torani, IG-88C (the one with the segnor's loop ability)

This was a very short game. Once, again, we had a mix of asteriods and debris in a clump in the middle. Dengar pushed up the left side of the board, while torani/IG move into the asteroid field. I spread my ships out in a skirmish line with my X-wings on the right and dutch/zeb on the left. On the 4th turn or so, the first turn of engagement, he expected me to go fast and k-turn-ed with torani and started to flank with IG. Unfortunately for him, I only did a one-straight with dutch and zeb, while Wedge/Thane came into the asteroid field, resulting in a killbox on torani with 4 range one shots, all with decent mods. The only return shots were dengar, range 3 three obstructed at dutch and IG, range 3 obstructed at thane. Neither shot did much, but I dropped torani to 1 hull. Next turn was also very good for me. I blocked dengar with Zeb, and through a very luck series of crits and the chip damage earlier (fuel leak, then direct hit,) I killed dengar that round and finished off torani with a protorp from Dutch. From there, I just cleaned up IG.

Game 3.

Vader+afterburners, 2 bombers with barrage rockets, jonus with barrage rockets.

So uh, this one didn't work out for me.

Set up was a bit different, with a mix of rocks, debris, and gas clouds spread throughout the board.

I set up in a tight line in the left corner with dutch on the far right of the line, then Thane, then zeb, and finally Wedge on the far left of the line.

The bombers set up on the opposite corner with vader on their left.

My squad came up in a diagonal formation with wedge coming up the edge of the board. Vader got a R3 potshot on dutch, dealing a direct hit to bring him to half points. The bombers were out of range. Next turn, dutch gets initiative killed by vader, and the bombers kill thane. I forget the details, but in the next few turns wedge gets brought to 2 hull, two bombers die, and zeb manages to ionize vader and takes off the shields while wedge runs. Zeb keeps vader busy by staying close to avoid his arc, and wedge catches the last bomber at range one and finishes it off. Then, zeb dies, and on the last turn wedge fails to kill vader and dies.

Game 4.

I literally don't remember, but I lost 200-100.

Game 5.

Fat Boba and fenn

Thjs was another fast game. We set up with a large asteriod field in the center left, and we set up with fenn on the far left, boba in the center, wedge across from him, and the rest in the far right. Wedge was moderately aggressive, and the main squad just kinda rolled up the board towards boba. Boba went slow, and fenn went as fast as possible towards wedge. Next turn, the main squad kept advancing, and wedge, now in the asteroid field, 1-banked. Fenn kept going fast, and boba banked right to avoid my main force. Wedge had a Range 2 shot at fenn, and halved him right there, and fenn's return fire stripped his shields. Next turn, the squad closed in on fenn, and he died pretty fast. Boba was just coming back to the fight, and took the range one at dutch, doing 2 or 3 damage. Next turn, dutch blocked boba, and the rest of the squad got heavily modded range 2 shots on him. He conceded after that.

So, that was day one, I barely squeaked into the cut, but got knocked out in the first round. I'll see if I can link the stream of the game here, but in the meantime, you can find it on IDEAsquadron on twitch. (battle for north texas)
