So I've played for a while with just a couple friends and want to see if you have any recommendations on 2 of my favorite fleets as I prep for my first tournament.

I like the idea of the Pelta fleet better but I don’t see the squads as much help. I think and comms net gr-75, a fleet command (intensify firpower) and strategic advisor on mc80

So you are saying go completely squadless. I have tried that a couple times and it has always been close or I got destroyed.

I have been flying squadless for over a year at least but I’ll admit if you got to have a list that can put damage in quick. Forcing myself to play with squads lately because it always have been a weak point and the rim campaign has starred an interest for bettering that area

Getting to 6 activation even when out bid I don’t think anyone will give you first so pick good mission and know how to play them

Jan is awesome but I think of slower bombers paired with her and some escorts, or some aces since you’re using Rieekan to keep them useful even when dead. Your A-wings are gonna outrun Jan at speed five—so I wonder why bring those fast interceptors? Wedge, Dutch, and Jan could be a fun small squad ball for 54? points. They smash fighters then can move in to bomb ships and are very resilient.

Your first list could make this work easily points-wise. And add in a generic Y-wing to give you an even number of squads (one more deployment), if you downgrade the GR75 to a transport rather than the combat version.
