Republic in Hyperspace post point change

By Redblock, in X-Wing

As someone said in other topic

"OUT

All V-19 Torrents

ARC-170; Sinker, 104th Battalion Pilot (Republic Tears)

Y-Wing; Goji

Delta-7; Anakin, Mace, (Republic Despair)

Astromechs; All except R4-P17 and R4-P Astromech (Republic Desolation)

Delta 7b Title (Republic Suicide)

Crew/Gunner; Palpatine, Ahsoka, Clone Cody, 7th fleet gunner

Synchronized Console"

My first reaction was going in corner and crying. So much list just screamed and died (like all those younglings). I maybe understood killing of Delta 7 (it enabled regen jedi, and regen jedi is cancer, pure and simple). But why Sinker swarm? Why my precious torrents, my little ones.... Who did they offend? My dear friend 104th pilot? It was all despair pain and hatred... But after spending few days crying in corner I started thinking, and I found hope, a new hope....

What saved Republic at least for me is simple Jedi knight going down simple one point. Very simple, and I see people screaming it isn't enough, but that one point makes all the difference. It creates simple building block - 3 Jedi knights + 2 Battle meditations. This cost you 123 points after change. After this you add 2 more non limited ships (2 more knights, 2 Shadow squadron veterans etc.....) skill 3 pilots works best, but low skills might also work. You get 5 ships at same pilot skill (already huge boost in X-wing) with insane action economy. They added 5 x-wings to hyperspace? This eats 5 X-wings for supper.

And if you want to go more traditional this is still a thing in hyperspace

Obi-Wan Kenobi (48)
Foresight (4)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (4)

Ship total: 56 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 2

Plo Koon (44)
Foresight (4)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (4)

Ship total: 52 Half Points: 26 Threshold: 2

"Wolffe" (50)
Ship total: 50 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 5

Ric OliƩ (42)
Ship total: 42 Half Points: 21 Threshold: 3

Total: 200

4 High skill ships in format that lost most of its high skill threats.

REPUBLIC LIVES!

PS. Everyone who takes their 5x Jedi knight list to tournament should name it "Knights of the old Republic" Just because....

What is the thinking behind both Foresight and CLT on the Jedi?

Well you can spend those 8 points how you choose, in old version of this list those points where spent on Sense, now had to improvise. Agree Foresight is not the best option.

I love Foresight, but I've always used *either* it or CLT.

I think it works better on Plo than Obi.

The idea is that you get the foresight activation shot, and then in engagement if you don't have a focus for the CLT shot (or you just don't want to spend a focus at all), you can just use foresight again (you don't need to spend a force to shoot it during engagement) and get a free mod while denying them a range bonus.

What is battle meditation doing for you here? It's a talent that I want to love, but I don't think it improves Jedi much and it costs a fair bit. Each Jedi spends their action and a force point to dole out two actions to other ships. Given that a force point is a focus, boost, or roll for a Jedi, this really means the Jedi is spending two actions to give away two actions. If you're passing between Jedi, there's no net gain. I could see a purpose for it if you passed an action to another ship that needed it more, but I can't really think of any good candidates, especially as you need two of those other ships.

Most of my republic lists got hammered in the points change, but I'm glad to see that 4x CLT Jedi is still an option, and the y-wing offers a bombing platform. My torpedo alpha strike list also made it through unscathed:

AnakYn (proton bombs, r4, protorps)

Jag (protorps, 3p0)

Bravo pilot (passive sensors, protorps)
